help, integrity of skeletool clip, bent [PICS]
on: April 21, 2009, 04:35:34 AM
My clip is protruding too far.  I must have got it stuck on something without realizing it.  I tried to use pliers to push it back down, but it won't go...  any ideas?

If you take it off you should be able to bend it back into shape.  Go slowly and keep test fitting it, as if you bend it too much back and forth to "get it right" it could break.

I've never seen anything like that happen. Maybe you should look at this vid-

If not, maybe you should give LM warranty a ring!  :)

Or forgo the clip completley and use the biner as the clip.  I find using the clip makes the tool stick out too much, but I can clip the biner to my pocket and I barely notice its there.  Or do as Def said.

Zack, do you attach the S biner to the "ring" on the bottle opener?  :)

I attach by putting the whole tool in my pocket and then clipping the biner to the top of my pocket, so all you see if the top part of the biner at the far side of my pocket.  Hope that makes sense.

Yeah, I see what you mean. I recently got a piece of bent kydex that does the same thing basically from a MT.O member.. It's perfect for carrying SAKs!  :)

+1 you couldn't bent it back into shape when attached, buy torx screw available at hardwares to screw off the clip. I don't use the clip because I am afraid of doing that, use the carabener as pocketclip less likely to break.

Thanks guys.  I took it apart (unscrewed one screw) with a torx driver.  Like new.  Wish I would have known before I tried to squeeze on it with pliers.  I'm rough on my tools.

I tried this method and I have to say, it feels quite secure compared to the clip. But there is a tendency for the curved portion under the etched bottle logo to hold on to my jeans, making it hard to remove. It does also require repositioning of the tool in the hand before being able to deploy the blade. Granted, I carry it in my left side pocket, so my method of removal may be different from yours.
