Well well well...this is interesting. I know nothing about SAKs and am honest enough to admit it.

I was doing some research and found that my fireman didn't look like the model photographs on the internet. After visiting Victorinox's home site, and much comparing, it looks like I don't have a fireman after all, but a huntsman.

Now here is the odd thing, it said fireman on the package.

Here is the proof.

It even says fireman on the back side also.

Anyone every come across this error in packaging before?

Hmmm... You are correct in that SAK being a Huntsman. It could be a Canadian naming thing or other. I've only found that "fireman" on [Canadian Tire].

Hmmmm. I went to a giant Canadian E-tailer and found their huntsman model identical to the one I bought at Canadian Tire.

I do not think it’s a Canadian naming convention seeing that only the ones at Canadian tire are so labeled (but I could be wrong). Is it possible that an error was made somehow when they printed off a batch for Canadian Tire? On the back of the packaging is states in fine legal print:

"Distributed by/Distribue par
Victorinox-Switzerland
North York, Ontario.
Printed in Canada."

If it is not an error...man..could SAK naming get any more confusing?

I very very much doubt it's an error.  Tim knows all about these things.  I'll PM him the link and see if he can help out.

Thanks Benner. I just added a little more info as an edit in my previous post.

Just noticed this thread getting off topic...sorry about that.

So...guess these are going to be stored on the middle glass shelf.

While Canada has had some different names for some SAKs: Lumberjack became a Plumber, Eco-Recruit became the Driver for example, it seems odd that they would use a name that was already in use for a totally different SAK.

I hope someone has an answer.

I agree. The man was talented. He even did his own leather work. I can admire them considering another of my hobbies is leather crafting.

Yeah, not sure if it’s a misprint on the name, or is it the model designation in my neck of the woods.

As for the topic...I stand corrected.  ;)

That's a kind offer Pacu, but, errr, how can I put this

No. thanks ;)

I'm going to have to add another section, maybe a roller cabinet. The logistics of getting them up and down the stairs scares me quite a lot.

My daughter already is I think.

We were comparing tools the other day, and she now has:

Surge
Wave
PST II
Micra
Green Cadet
Other Green Vic SAK (she likes green)
A couple of cheapy MTs, one of which is hald decent, but has no brand name on it. She bought it off a squadie on ebay (she's 13 FFS)  ::)

Makes yer proud doesn't it? We were out walking the other day, and SWMBO needed to cut the tag off a scarf she bought, I was reaching for my Charge but was beaten by daughter with her PST II :D

I used to come here a lot.
