What tool did you carry today?
on: May 01, 2009, 12:07:07 PM
This topic idea is shamelessly stolen from SOSAK I admit.  I don't know if you are like me but I change my EDC all the time.  Factors will include where I'm going, what I'm doing but mostly on my fickle nature.  It also helps justify the large amount of SAKs that I own (at least in my head  :-[ ).  I'm not to worried about what torch (flashlight), wallet or whistle you have but I am curious as to whether you all change your multitool EDC as often as me.

For just now I have my Swisschamp, 84mm Apprentice and a Rambler.

So, what did you carry today?

Today is a day off, so I just carry my Victorinox Cadet and a Spyderco Native. Maybe the Skeletool might find it´s way in my pocket too.

Another factor that helps decide my EDC is that if I have a new tool, I'm gonna carry it. So, for the last week it's been my new Charge TTI with a 4" adjustable wrench and bit extender in the side pockets.

Lately I've been carrying a Vic Rally, Leatherman S4, Fenix E01, Sharpie, Mega-Combo Wrench (a little pocket tool for lighting instruments), BIC, and a Flash drive. Thats pretty much become my standard last month or so.  Some days I might grab a Tinker, Spartan or Guppie.

At work I have a Nite-Ize pouch with a Core, Vic Electrician, lockback utility knife, 2AA magLED, and a pair of wire strippers.

Fan of the Leatherman mini-bit driver and the Vic backspring philips.

I fully intended trying something new today , but after 10 minutes the LM Supertool came off my belt and the Skeletool out from my pocket and it was back on with the Spirit and as the Vic Farmer hit the bottom of my pocket I had to smile to myself   :climber:

I'll carry the Spirit X today, and this week.  While I just had to get one, I am curious how the plain edge will compare to the butter knife.  It certainly has "the look".

Well I'm going to a friends for a DVD night with a few drinks, so I don't feel the need to be tooled up.  With that in mind I think I'm going with a Vic Sportsman.

On my home keys I carry a Arc-P flashlight and Atwood SuperBug. On my truck keys I carry a Vic manager and Burke I-Popper. In my Murse I carry a Leatherman Charge ALX and my edc folder of choice is a CRK Umnumzaan.
Sometimes change is a good thing, other times not so much!

Building a carport today, so I carry a Vic Spirit, a Byrd Raven and a Skeletool. Used the saw, blade and pliers on the Spirit, the caplifter on the Skeletool - but I will have to use both pliers before I´m finished with the carport, so the redundancy is OK.

BTW: I have "real" tools here, but I love to try what my Spirit can take  :)

Girlfriend just broke the vacuum (again!) and Spirit X has already come to the rescue.  Philips driver to get at the screws (no slipping BTW), and awl and scissors to cut away all the hair and string.  A new belt, and everything is back to normal!

I gave my son, no actually let me say that again, my son took my paraframe on permanent loan.  I didn't mind.
I have a thing for black blades/knives.  That para you have is a beaut.

Busy day today.  Spydeco UKPK got a jolly good sharpening and clipped to my pocket, that took care of most knife duties except opening the post that was done by my edc 74mm Vic. and the removing of cable ties on a mains cable that was done with a Vic. Hunter's gutting blade.  Rigged up some climbing trellis in the garden with assistance from the awl on an old Pioneer (thanks again Dennis ;) ) and the same Pioneer and my Scientist helped in putting together a make shift table of sorts to put the hifi on in my office.
