Lights on, or Lights off
on: April 11, 2024, 11:53:12 PM
I always wondered how many members use the 'Lights On' mode versus the Black Out version on the MTo site.  In case someone out there hasn't noticed, there is a sun symbol next to the search thing on the home page.  Press it to toggle on or off the background color.
I started out reading things long before I joined.  I always used the white background.  After I joined, I tried the 'Lights Off' blackout mode.  That is what I have used ever since.  So which is it?  Black or white?  Best wishes.  Gary (IMR)

I believe it is a setting on my phone, but I use the black background mode.  I think it’s easier on the eyes.

Thank you for bringing this up G, I had not discovered that feature. I prefer dark mode on almost everything, so I have gone dark for good on Mto!

Interesting.  I have been here a good while, and never noticed it.  But I have switched to lights off mode to see how that goes.   :tu:

A lifetime ago, there was a radio show called Lights Out.  A flat emotionless voice did the intro.  Each word was followed by the tolling of a clock striking the hour.
   It.......Is.......Later.......Than......You.......Think.
The speaker was Arch Oboler.  Then you would get a short warning and the speaker would command.... LIGHTS OUT.
The show made the transition to early TV.  The old radio show was popular, and episodes were broadcast at a late time slot.
So far it looks like the MTo lights out mode is about a 50/50 proposition, with some more trying it out.  Maybe a few more will give it a try.  There is plenty of time.  Best wishes.  G

Dark mode for me, the old theme was nicely grey, the new theme is too bright for me so I was glad to see there was a dark theme available.

Ever since I got my last phone I go with dark theme on everything except for the eBay.
There are some sites where the headings don't show well in dark theme though.

Anyone else noticing that in dark mode the highlighted nature of the pencil, for a forum with a new post does not show  up?

I figured out what you were asking.  There is a difference in the black out mode, but not as much contrast as the lights on mode.  I think.  To tell the truth I never really knew what the pencil symbol was for.  Best wishes.  G

It turns from black to grey.

I had seen the moon symbol but it never occurred to me to hover over it or click it.  Learn something new everyday.  I think I'm ok with either mode though.

Thanks for pointing that out!  I never thought about it,  just tried it, I like the dark mode!  But I could easily go back to light, it was nice as well.
