🔥DAY 21🔥

i've been out exploring and out of cell range so here's my catch-up posts  :ahhh

finally got enough sun to attempt a Mag fire

🔥DAY 22🔥

couldn't find any dry tinder the second day so my Mag fire attempts were unsuccessful so I got out the matches. here's my tinder and newspaper ablaze before getting scooped up with more newspaper and thrown into the fire pit.

i've been enjoying catching up and reading all of the great posts and uses here

Point of clarification-  my second Day 21 is actually Day 22.

Now back to our regularly scheduled posting.

Day 23 of 30

Stuff I carried today, except for the Kick, which lives in my toolbox.  And I also had my Ronson Jet Lite after work.  And I didn't carry the file either.

I am on a roll for not making a mistake and double posting a day, but I have done it on nearly every challenge. It looks like you are geared up for some serious work. Nice file handle, I need to make one of those.

I have loved Clipper lighters for both those reasons.

Although, they changed the spark wheel a few years ago so the edges aren’t round but more star like.  I can see it making it easier to spin in wet or cold conditions, but have also. Found they tend to wear and lock-up easier now.

I have also recently had an issue with the refill pin on a couple of my full-size Clippers being too big for the tip on my butane bottle.  I don’t have enough to know if this is a common problem, but it is a little frustrating.
I have been eyeing one of those for a while.  I’ll be interested in knowing if the o-rings help prevent evaporation.
Reminds me of old car cigarette lighters
Those are a couple of cool lighters
I probably need to do some experiment to compare a regular zippo side-by-side to this Field S, just to see which of this will evaporate less over time.

Exactly, quite functional. One of the many ideas I picked up when it was circulated through the youtube creators.

Day 24

This UST firestarter was kinda popular many years ago, supposedly it is easy to operate with one hand and scrapper is pre-installed inside the chassis, so everything is all inclusive.  But over the years, I find it harder and harder to bring the ferro rod out(by pressing the sides of the starter) and often time it requires a firm squeeze from two hand in order for it to work.

I do have a similar container in dark olive green somewhere, but I do wonder what if the striking pad gets wet, will it lit?

Is it because it is not multi purpose like some other utility knife?
I think the popluarity of a certain youtube video does bring a lot of attention to the Millwaukee utility knife in the past years, and I still have yet to get one.

Day 25

Imco keeps a new Hanklight D4K triple channel company.(that's a mouth full).

Really liking many of the Hanklight offerings--you could practically choose any popular led installed in the light with different functions/configuration.  This particular one has dual white/Red/UV led all installed on the same chassis.

Thanks to the Anduril flashlight software, it does make it rather easy to operate, despite a complex configuration.

I think the answer is “no”, which is one of the weaknesses of stormproof matches.

I will soak the strip today and try to light. In the case of my kit, the matches are new so there is an extra striker strip inside with the matches that could be brought out if the outer one is not working. Obvious weakness is when the outer strip wears out.

Gets me thinking though, why not just carry the strip with the matches all the time to prevent it getting wet?

I carry mine in a Ziploc bag with the rest of my fire kit, so that keeps everything dry.
