Q&A - What is the C4 spike used for on SOG MT's ???

Question: I have a question, what is the C4 spike used for? i know it has to do with EOD tasks, but what the specific purpose?

Answer: C4  ( AKA plastic explosive )  comes in bricks ( 2" x 1" x 12") and has the consistency of a semi-hard block of cheese. The C4 spike is used to make a hole in the end of the C4 so a blasting cap can be inserted in to it.  Also can be used as a marlin spike, and in an emergency  to punch out a car window as well as a good self defense weapon, as it locks open on the PowerLock --- don't leave home without one ! (NEVER take a MT or knife to a gun fight - Very old Polish proverb - from a very old Polish knife fighter !   )

C, C2, C3 were the early predecessor's and a real pain in the a$$ to use, it was brittle in the cold, had a real stench to it and had a yellow die in it so it got all ver your hands and everything you touched.  C4 appeared in 1964, I went to EOD school in 1967 - but they had so much C3 we had to use that in training, not nice.

I prefer SOG for the interchangeability of implements, all  you need is two  1/4"  wrenches, and you can get them free from SOG.

Good point. I have been considering getting the Gerber one. I really like the way it looks and the REMGRIT saw.

Good point. I have been considering getting the Gerber one. I really like the way it looks and the REMGRIT saw.

I have the RemGrit saw on the Legend, and although I haven't used it for anything yet, it certainly seems like it'll do some damage when I do. Nice departure from the norm I think.
