Some sweet modern lights, y'all! :like:

I've been carrying this one in my pocket for a few days. It is only 110 years old.
Solitaire Maglite for size reference.

You're right!
Eveready Vest-Pocket light. Patented 1904. The one I have is dated 1909. It originally used an Eveready 750 3v battery(which they stopped making in the 1930s/1940s), but I had to make a battery from a 2xAAA holder, duct tape and conductive tape. I went back to my Maglite at work today, but will take some photos of the inside label and modded battery pack when I get home.  :)

Well. Information wise, there isn't much else to add, except that these types of lights were popular in the early 1900s. Originally it came with a bulb that had the reflector behind a glass dome as part of the bulb itself. Mine came with that bulb, but I broke it like a clutz and am stuck using the fancy-pants mag-tip modern bulbs you see in a lot of electronics. At least the bulb base was similar.

The battery is pack is a quick throw together and will be properly updated at some point. I used a nut and bolt on the side that the switch touches for a solid point of on/off. Then I insulated it with duct tape and ran a stranded wire through a hole in the other side(pole) in the duct tape and made a contact pad over the strands with conductive tape for a bulb pole contact.
Pics.

Been neglecting this little guy. For me it has a great UI. Tighten to turn off. Easy one-handed operation and trit in the tail.

Many thanks, Poncho!
It is amazing that these antique pocket lights can still hold their own, albeit with an LED bulb, against cheaper lights. Although, unlike the 1909 Eveready vest light, the pen light doesn't have a constant on switch. :ahhh
