Looking again at the Vic Executive
on: May 10, 2009, 03:31:49 PM
My current keyring EDC is the LM Micra, but looking again at my Vic Executive the quality and design is just great, i'm seriously considering changing.
Any thoughts on the Exec vs Micra ?

I've owned and used both, and both are terrific. The Executive has the best nail file going as far as I'm concerned. The Executive has the advantage of being completely outside opening if that's a consderation. The Exec also two knife blades(one large, one small,as opposed to Micra's one.The Exec's tweezers are also better to use and manipulate..at least for me.Some would say Micra's scissors are more rugged, but the spring on the Exec's scissors are easily replaced if it needs it.

I've never got on with the Micra whilst I really like the Executive, except the silly peeler :)

I carried a micra for quite a while but since I have sworn allegiance to SOSAK I must say Executive now  :D

I think tools on the outside are a real bonus actually which is why I have now replaced it with a Rambler.

It pains me to say so, but I prefer the Micra. I LOVE the Micra scissors.

Well I carry an Executive as my main folder and I also carry a Squirt S4 :D

I carry the Executive in my watch pocket and the S4 in the left hand pocket :tu:

They are both small enough that I really don't notice either 1 :) I know I have a redundancy of tools but each being small I feel that the pluses outweight the cons :tu:

Well, after a lot of thought i've decided to stick with the Micra.
Don't know what it is about that little sod, I keep considering other keyring options but I always go back to that. I'm pretty sure it's the indestructible feel of it. Little SAKs feel very jewel like in comparison

I really don't get the Micra at all.   Why would anyone want one when they could have a Squirt?  Outside opening and pretty alox.

The Executive may be a good choice for a teetotaler who eats lots of oranges and likes to keep their fingernails really clean.
And he should be an "executive", which means he calls someone else if he needs something fixed.

Victorinox could do so much more with the 74mm size.

Hey :pok: I'm not a teetotaler :D but I do agree they could do so much more with the 74mm range :tu: I don't eat oranges that much either  :D

I agree with Andy, there's a lot that could be done, and has been done with the 74mm range. If the Director was brought back, with a keyring attachment,I'd be all over that like stink on crap.Personally,I think Vic is missing out by not coming out with something that could compete with Leatherman's Squirt P4.

Someone modded an executive to add the bottle-opener/phillips from the 58mm line in place of the orange peeler.  Certainly a step in the right direction.
