First Contact = Bad movie.  Why.....NO SHATNER

Generations = Worst movie.  Why.......SHATNER Died......TWICE (Yes I know the first time he didn't but it was meant to make you think he did which is even worse       )

SHATNER RULES ALL :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute:

First Contact is a great movie. Generations was almost as bad as The Final Frontier.

Shatner rules but Patrick Stewart also rules.

Yes, there were references to the old series... but did no one pick up on the reference to the rest of the timeline?  Something about a transporter experiment involving "Admiral Archer's prized beagle" if I recall correctly!

No need to get pissy. It's no secret Shatner can't act but that just makes us love him more.

Now between Kirk and Picard, it all depends on what the situation is. If it's mortal hand to hand fighting I'd want Picard, the man did get his heart stabbed and is still going. But if we're just out drinking, fighting and whoring, gimme Kirk, I'm sure he has a lot more experience in Romulan red light districts.

Well, I finally got round to seeing it today and I really liked it. I was amused by the subtle hat tipping to the original and the great casting. Just enough cheese and ham to let you know you were watching Star Trek :D

I saw it last night and I must say that I liked the movie, action all the way. But as a Star Trek movie I’m not sure what to believe, guess I just got to se it again.

I saw the movie, it's good, but I don't like how they smurf with the timeline. If it's this once it's okay but I hope they don't restart the whole story with it (although that's probably what they are trying to do).

The new guy is okay, but doesn't have what it takes to be cocky like Shatner.

I got the feeling this was the first of several - certainly ended with that clear possibilty anyway.

He doesn't quite have enough ham to be Shatner, but that's probably a good thing if they want us to take it a tad more seriously! All the latter series seemed to abandon a little of the ham along the way.

Well I've studiously avoided this thread all week, but I've seen the film today :)

What a great film, and all credit to the actors for taking the original cast off so well :salute:

I wasn't sure about the drastic shift in the timeline, but i supose it gives them more options for the future, without stamping all over the original series, which was something that did hold ENTERPRISE back a bit :)

And on a very male note, wasn't Uhura HOT

According to IMDB there is going to be a sequel that follows Wrath of Kahn http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1408101/ Not much of information but it's on the way.

The one good thing about this movie,I now know why Dr.McCoy is nicknamed "Bones".

The one negative, Lt. Uhura,,,,The original Lt.Uhura has a special place in my heart.  I never could have survived puberty without her.  The new LT.Uhura just doesn't do it for me :-\

Remember back in the 70's she and some of the other cast of TOS were used by NASA for a roolout of the Space Shuttle? She also did some TV commercials for NASA recruiting minorities into the astronaut corps.

+1. who does Abrams thinks to be? Roddenberry? "ok, that was smurf, now on I rule. Take away Vulcano, make Scott a clown, let's mix the movie with the Goonies..."

there are so many errors, inconsistencies and non-sequitur...

Ok, I'm a ST fan. I ran a ST fan club for Tuscany. I find this movie a real disgrace for all ST saga.
