New Champion.
on: May 12, 2009, 01:28:04 PM
Well new to me anyway.  :)  No point to this thread other than to boast and thank Neil  .  I was always fairly against bigger SAKs, I normally put SAKs in my trouser pocket and find anything more than three layers to bulky.  But for some reason I've still ended up with a few larger ones ( stop that  ::) ).  Neil also sent alone some of his last green scales and I think they are just fantastic  proper British Racing Green if you ask me.

Also in the pic are a Handyman and a Swisschamp.

As Neil suggested it's a pretty close match for a green Clipper lighter.  the SAK is a tone or two darker though.

Oi! :twak:  Half the cars in F1 are built in Britain you know.  >:(   ;)

So far this year it's been the Ferrari's breaking down, and it's another Brit at the top of the drivers championship.  :D

Nice piece of kit mate.  Like the scales alot.  The green gives it a bit of a regal look, very nice.

Swisschamp, it's not much bigger, and those pliers are generally quite useful :)

Well I'll be weird Poncho and say I'd get a Champion if I were you. I'm assuming you will still have one of your multi's near all the time, so the pliers would be dead weight on a SAK. I have both, and the Champion is overall more pleasant, but if you are just taking one tool into the woods or putting it in your glovebox the Swiss Champ is the obvious... Champ :P
Now don't disappoint us, buy both and then do a comparison thread! :twak: Just kidding!

Like many here, I have both and must say the Champion is GREAT when paired with a plier based MT.  Its easier to carry and slightly less bulky.

However, if I don't carry a MT then the Champ wins hands down as those pliers (as weak as they are when compared to say a LM) are worth their weight in gold.

Just my initial thoughts

I find the little pliers of the Swisschamp to be quite handy. They're not Swisstool strong or anything, but they do get by in a pinch.  :tu:

I'd say swisschamp. The magnifier is great  - I never realised how useful they are until I got my champ . Also the philips screwdriver is in a better position.

That said, the champ is a bit bulkier - you should probably get both ;)
