Is it possible to exert enough hand pressure using the handles to brake it ?  ???

Ah, I was just wondering perhaps the design with the exposed metal edges would prevent anyone exerting enough pressure ?
Built in safety feature of course  :D  He's a genius that Tim Leatherman  8)

Lol.

I've not seen any broken jaws on a PST, but they kept changing the design of them didn't they? Maybe the changes were due to warranty claims.

I used to come here a lot.

can the new plier heads really take more than twice as much force as the old ones?

it says it in the Blast description on their website...I've heard they can take 133% more force...

Never broken 1 yet :D but that doesn't mean that I couldn't if I tried and abused it ::) :D They seem strong enough for anything that I normally throw at them

Over the years I've acquired a number of old used PST's that were beat up beyond relief. Bent handles, crisscrossed plier tips, loose pivots, etc. Clearly they had been mistreated in a former life. Yet none of them had broken plier jaws. That's got to be worth something. :tu:
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

I think the Sideclip's jaws are slightly thinner, ie. flattened on one side, so possibly they're not quite as strong as the old PST jaws.

It still sounds pretty hard to do though raptorman, fair play to you. I reckon my wrists would snap before any tool I was bearing down on.

Back in '99 I broke the jaws of a Schrade ST1. I was cutting solid wire, just can't remember the gauge. I've never had a PST though.

I've broken a set of jaws before not on a pst but it could be possible.  I would think in most cases like mine it'd be a design flaw?  Anyhow, I am careful now and don't stick in anything to hard into the wire cutters as to put a new "notch" in them or perhaps snap a jaw.

I've seen and repaired quite a few of them, so they certainly can break.
