Workchamp arrived today I'm impressed.
on: May 19, 2009, 06:06:36 PM
The SAK workchamp came today from 7dayshop,

Firstly I have to say it has already seen more use in just a few hours "more than my sog power assist did in two weeks" i.e screw drivers, saw scissors and the metal file, which I will add were a dream to use, take a look at the saw blade? one of the best saw blades in the business IMHO.

For me it's one of the most user friendly tools I have used, all blades are fairly easy to get at,the main blade is the only one that locks in place it is released via a side switch shown here.

At first I had doubts about how big this SAK would be,some sites saying it's a monster :ahhh but! although you could say it's large! it seems less cumbersome to carry "and look at" than other multi tools I've owned this picture for comparison to other EDC items.

There is one small down side what could the small pliers be used for? hmmm ah wait! I know for plucking nose hairs maybe haha! no! they do have a more practical use for undoing those very tiny nuts, you know! the ones you can never find a wrench or socket for.But also the pliers would make a great tweezers for getting thorns out from your fingers.

A close up of the pliers or large tweezers if you like  :salute: it also has a thin gauge wire cutter and a crimper.

The metal file is a three sided affair course fine and a cutting edge the latter being great for staring a cut in wood before deploying the wood saw to finish off,it works very well in this capacity, the fine file will repair quickly a broken finger nail "I hate that when it snags on a pullover"  :twak: I may even have to hide it from my wife it's that good  :D

I love the fact it has two Philips screwdrivers they should be good for most tasks me thinks, here's a shot of those.

So to end then I think it's a great SAK has enough tools to get by on camping trips and around the home as well, fantastic knife I love it,picture with all blades out, enjoy  :climber:

Added this picture to show how it fits in the hand  :tu:

I like my Workchamp alot, but I find it a bit too big to fit comfortably in the hand.  Great selection of tools though!

Great pics :D

I like the big ones but can't carry a locker, which I assume it is?

I'm EDCing my lovely Craftsman which covers those bases in a smaller package :)

Yes one blade locks the main one! but even if it didn't the blade is too long for EDC it's over 3",I would only carry it legit on camping trips or if I could justify it for work, that said it's great for having around the house also  :tu:

Mighty fine knife and a great buy I might add.  :tu:

Your knife is one of only 4 111mm knives that have the scissors. The scissors are exactly the same in size as the 91mm version therefore they saved money on equipment and tooling. I do not understand why there were not more models made with the scissors.

By the way, if you were wondering which 111mm models have a scissors here is the list;
  • Hercules
  • Outrider
  • Workchamp
  • Workchamp XL

Thanks  :tu: I think Victorinox  have improved the scissors a bit and are now! getting close to my sog cross cut for cutting,i.e sog cuts in one go 44mm the SAK 27mm on paper just a bit of useless information, that said the sog scissors are hard to beat hence why I carry both  :D

Nylon scales. All nylon scales are either hot stamped or painted like yours

Shove something up the tweezer/toothpick hole and yank.  There are more subtle methods but that's the quickest :D

Its a press fit onto little brass bushings. So long as you don't damage the the areas surrounding the slots you can always clip it back on with a good hard squeeze.  If after popping it back its a bit loose a blob of bostick or the like over the brass bushings sorts it out.

No point wasting your mates time on one SS set of scales, ask about a few ;)
