I love the stuff and always have at least a couple of foot wrapped around a card in my wallet to hand.

Good idea :salute:

I broke the little tab that holds the battery in my phone. I use duct tape to hold the battery in place.  :D

Sometimes change is a good thing, other times not so much!

I'm another one for keeping some wrapped on old mobile PAYG topup cards.  Or at least I try to be.  What normally happens is I go down the pub and one of my mates asks pleadingly if I have another of those cards on me he could have.

I could make them wrap their own but they buy me beer, its a very fair swap  :tu:

I've just realised, we've found a multitool we all agree is brilliant. Result :D
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

When I was in university we taped a guy about 6 foot up a pillar with it.  Left him there for a few hours :D

I also taped someone to a tree with it during a hiking trip once.

Used it to stick a wing mirror back onto my car after an unpleasant run in with a lorry.

Makes me think of this...

I love my duct tape.... Currently I am running a 20ft phone wire for my fax, and duct tape keeps it tight near the wall...

Also, my carpet here in ancient and has been ripping lately, duct tape keeps it together:)

In college in my old days, we'd make bets (lost buys drinks) od duct taping it on unshaven people and ripping it off. First one who screams, buys drinks...

I'm curious about all the bandage uses.  Do you at lease stick a gauze pad or something on the wound, or just tape straight over it?  I usually use crazy glue for small cuts.

I once used it to pull closed a pretty long cut about 2'' on my shin. It worked as good as stitches and it healed very well, I barely have a scar from it.

Wow, necro.

The most impressive that I've ever seen was several years ago. The pipe from the pump at my folks broke. Got the water shut off, got everything dry, wrapped the pipe in about a quarter inch of duct tape. Two hose clamps to keep it tight. It held pressure over night until my brother the plumber got there and swore a lot. :P

Make a small "birds nest tinder bundle" of duct tape torn into very small strips...

Need a torch...wood wet?

Wrap the DT in a thickish layer around the end and light!

It will burn and last long enough to begin drying out the end of the torch!!

A couple of years ago, I was "bush-hogging", i.e., mowing a field with a John Deere tractor.  The tractor had a "bucket" on the front.  As I executed a magnificent turn, the bucket just barely hit the door handle on the back of my Chevy Suburban.  It cracked it and knocked a small piece off the the handle. I wrapped the wound in Gorilla tape, and its held for 2 years.  It doesn't look great, but it kept me from replacing the handle.

some of my past uses;

fix a Halloween costume, my first that I rember; Lukes orange flight suit, in that tearable 80's vinyl.
wrap a cracked mattock handle
wrap a fuel fill neck, later patched with marine fuel line putty
fix coverall waders; they still leaked, that fishing trip sucked
patch a tent, not mine fortunately
patched my roof; my land lord blew up my furnace, literally, took 3 days to come back and actually fix the hole he blew in the roof
seal the windows in the winter; did I mention my lousy landlord growing up and the quality of his units
wrapped drain pipes in kitchen; yep same place
make a machete sheath
wrap a cracked shotgun stock
strap a cooler shut...no not for the reasons the Game Comission tell you not to shoot any abandoned, duct taped coolers you find while hunting
strap a refrigerator shut...you really didn't want to open that one
patched boots and gloves
tied up cables and webbing
attached various tools to poles for extended reach
made weather seal gasket for a car door
patch cab corners for inspection
wrapped a bumper to hide that it was made out of found street signs & posts that were washed away in the last flood....so I was reclycling and doing my part to keep the stream clean
built almost an entire fender with expansion foam, duct tape and spray paint....that truck really shouldn't have passed, but it did

I'm sure I've done more with the stuff but I think this is enough.

I would both assume and strongly suggest that if one does use DT to bandage a wound that you pour it full of Jack Daniels etc, use gauze and then DT the sucker shut!
If you put BARE DT ON the wound, would it not pull it back open during removal for dressing change....OWIE !

As much as I admire Les Stroud...DT is probably better than using your Scooby Doo underwear to bandage it...

Also alcohol will help with the pain caused by the cut...and...the alcohol!

As a side note, I bought GT because everybody says....well Gorilla Tape...sooo... I used it for something silly to see how well it stuck, semi permanent hold on for a remote battery cover.

The stuff keeps fraying and peeling off!

Now, either I'm a greasy handed sucker, or my gorilla needs to lift weights and eat more bamboo....thinking my next stock up might be T REX TAPE!

3M DUCT TAPE SUCKS...

That 3M auto carpet adhesive in the green can however does NOT, IMHO!

Wherever you spray that stuff, be damn sure you want it there...and follow the directions! I've glued vinyl flooring tiles down with it to a prepped, smooth surface.

Takes a chisel to get em up!!

This morning I made a two piece, slip case for a project where I need to be able to keep a set of spare batteries. Non conductive.
