On Any Sunday!
on: May 28, 2009, 10:36:38 PM
I was recently having a sort through all my old stuff, when I came across my copy of 'On Any Sunday' :)

I'd forgotten what a great film it was, which despite it's age (1971) is still bloody great viewing even today :)

So has anyone else seen it? :)

If it's a bike rather than a tin top, I might have to see if I can find a copy for my boy to watch :D

Wow. I remember seeing On Any Sunday over 30 years ago.  :)

Those dirt bike sequences look painful. What did the bikes have; about 3 inches of suspension travel back then? ::)

If you think those bikes were fun when they were new, you should try riding those same bikes, 30 years later, reconditioned using only original era parts!

Of course not!

Suspension adds weight, and uses up precious energy that could otherwise be used for speed.

(Flat Track racers are a special sort of insane, they basically work by the theory that to win, the back end of your bike should be trying to overtake the front end of your bike. Which causes some interesting physics anomalies)

Still, they're better than Side Car guys!

There's a saying I first heard at Keith Code's CSS:

"Old bikes suck, new bikes rock"

Had to do with brakes, suspension, and chassis mainly, but in general, I agree.

Never seen the film, but was there a song with the title "On Any Sunday" ?  ???
Everytime I see the thread title something nags away at my memory.

I'll watch it again when I have more time but boy does that take me back a few years.  I've had probably about 20 motorcycles over my active years and use to ride with my family whom got into it in quite a big way after I brought home a Can-Am 175 qualifier (orange) one afternoon a way back.  What a great time it was.
Thanks for sharing the vid.  ;)

The new Husky 450 dual sport is a very hot ticket right now...

(been sorta eyeing one myself!)

Got a copy of On Any Sunday on VHS somewhere - must dig it out. Might prove expensive though, watching it always makes me want to get a '70s dirt bike :)
