Russian 24 Hour Watches
on: May 29, 2009, 06:30:44 PM
Ok, I'm seriously intrigued with the Russian military 24 hour watches on ebay.

Anyone have any experience with these?  If so, are they decent watches?

Here's a link for reference...

If it was quartz I'd buy one for sure.   :tu:

Do an ebay search for Russian 24 hour watch.  There are a bunch of different styles, and their all around $50.

What's the difference in the movements?  (quartz, etc)

That's very cool; don't think I've ever seen one like that before.  I'm mighty tempted to bid for it.

I'd love to see the look on someones face as they asked you the time (other than the annoyed look as use my usual line - "time to get yourself a watch") :D :D

Not familiar with the movement, but have seen similar go for a bit less though. If you google the movement number you'll see similar 24hr watches made by Raketa, might shed a little more light on it for you as far as price goes and such.

In general, Russian watches are fairly cheap and basic, not anywhere near Japanese quality etc, but they are also interesting and unique time pieces at very reasonable prices.

I'm not a watch guy, but the one your looking at is a self wind model and the quartz that I want uses a battery.  :tu:

I'm seriously considering getting one of these.  I've been wanting a 24 hour watch (dial) for a while now, and these look really interesting!

Now if only I could find one with a hammer and sickle on it :D

Alpha also makes a nifty looking 24 hour watch. Here is the black dial one.

I like that Alpha watch too!  I see it says it's limited to 300pcs though...

They might still have some, would probably have to email them to be sure though.

Nice watches at Alpha - I am on a shiny spending ban but otherwise I'd probably want one just for the novelty value  :)
