Well while off at another Wal-Mart I found a Surge for $40 bucks :o I just had to pick 1 of these bohemoths up :D Like everybody says this sucker is HUGE :ahhh I didn't realize how much bigger than the Wave it really was :o Now I know why Def said it affects yourn gas mileage :D I know most of you have them but in the tradition of most of my MTs I figured the Surge deserved a who has thread ;) :D

I don't want to burst your bubble, but the only people with Surges are insane collectors.

They were released by Leatherman as an April Fools joke, they're not considered to be a real tool.

You felt you needed to add some hard evidence to my claim?

I have one that I edc every day along with a AAA Mini Maglite and a half dozen extra blades tucked into the leather sheath. It's used just about every day for one thing or another. Wouldn't live without it.

I have two, which according to nomad's theory makes me more insane than Poncho, but not as bad as Bob

Got one.  Got another one (camo) on the way.
I like it.

It's not that big.  About the same as a Swisstool.
Looks downright petite next to a Swissgrip.

A fair point that Andy.

It's the same size as the Swisstool, Supertool, Supertool 200, Core, Super Bear Jaws, Gerber Freehand, Gerber Legend etc...

It is quite fat though :D

I have one also. I love the tool set and the versatility. However, It doesn't feel all that great in my hand. I prefer the simpler lines of the Core myself.

A little Leatherman information.

That's completely wrong! The SURGE is quite a popular tool around here and a few of my buddies have 'em too. At the moment, I have three SS SURGE's, 1 BO, 1 BO with cap crimper, and a CAMO SURGE ON THE WAY!!!

At one point, I had 8 SS SURGE's.  :-[ I have had no less than 20 pass through my hands.

I have one. EDC it every day. Always in my pocket even when I'm not leaving the house. My SURGE!! is with me 24 hrs a day.
And now that I've learned of the existence of the camo version, I've decided I will own one of those sooner or later as well. Though in a sense I don't see the need for extras when the first one has proven indestructible. But then when it comes to the SURGE who wants to be sensible?

It was my VERY First MT & I love it. The tool exchanger is such a great idea, I hope LM puts it on some other models. It was a surprise present from my wife so it is definitely a keeper.
I am positively not with  Mr Nonads on this  :P :P(silly fella set fire to his Surge).

BTW Poncho $40 GREAT pick up mate , I hope you like it half as much as I do :D :D

yup. I have one. I EDC'd it for a couple of years. Amazing tool. I got a promotion about a year ago. I don't so much build stuff anymore at work so Mr. Surge is mt weekend working around the house tool now.

I believe it is the most capable multitool there is.

I won't sell my surge. Don't get me wrong. I just don't like the ergonomics when folded. Two opposite blades that jut out in the closed position. It just doesn't sing to me in the hand. Mind you, the tool set is second to none.
