Sheeple friendly folders
on: June 02, 2009, 11:16:40 PM
Received this little blade tech mouse lite today, even smaller than I expected. In fact too small to work with comfortably for longer period of time. But it shouldn't scare anyone if I pull it out for any cutting task, hell if anyone still complain about it they should go live in a padded room with nothing hard or sharp around.

This is the discontinued seki city 440C version, newer ones are aus8 from taiwan. Newgraham still have 16 of these in stock but once they are gone, they are gone, if anybody wants any better go pick one up now, for $22 you can't lose.

So what's your sheeple friendly folder? (not counting SAK)

Originally, I got a Boker Subcom for this very reason but even that got a few comments.  ::)

TBH over here I find anything OH will upset the sheeple, so A Fallkniven U2 is what I'd carry.
I'm back!!

It's not the size that makes people jump; it's the idea. The Mouse is a neat wee knife but to the sheeple it is a (a) dedicated folder with a (b) one-hand opening blade. Period. Around here people would give you the looks even for a Ladybug or 91mm SAK... :-\ On the other hand, small- or medium-sized multitools somehow don't fall into the "OMG A BLADE!!!" category. Go figure... :-\

Pfft, if anybody complains, I'll ask them if they prefer my other knife instead.   :D

Sadly, I couldn't have put it better myself.  There are times I play cautious with knife choice but for the most part these days I'm back to figuring if its legal I'm going to carry it, because those who are afraid of pointy things will not like anything and those that aren't won't give a damn what I'm using.  The UKPK raises an eyebrow even amongst my friends but its been allowed out a few times recently :)
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

I am still rather cautious in certain situations about carrying and using a knife even my completely legal Champ sometimes using the scissors instead of the blade but if what I have in my pocket is legal and I can justify my use I will carry on until they change the law to remove everything from the hands of sensible people .The kind of people who will use knives to hurt others don't really give a damn and will cheerfully carry a machete or more likely lift a  knife out the kitchen drawer

The perfect sheeple knife in my opinion is the Case sodbuster or any sodbuster pattern.  Nice strong slip joint and reminescent of knives their grandparents may have carried.

Most sheeple-friendly is a SAK,  of course — the wider (more layers/tools) the better!

Agreed +1

I like my Champ because most people believe its more of a novelty (because it's big :D) rather than a tool that I carry on myself...boy are they wrong...the Swisschamp is a true work horse :tu:

+2

I've still been met with mild shock when I've carried my Vic Ranger though.  The way things are these days I think even a SAK isn't all that sheeple friendly.   :(

Fällkniven U2 or P1 and a Spyderco Bug and Dragonfly for Sheeple. NOBODY fears the BUG!

But, to be honest, I do not really care. My most often used EDC knives are a Spyderco Police SE, and a Spyderco Tenacious. Big, fat, tactical folders. Love them!

Well, my experiment for sheeple friendly knife quickly came to an end...

It's just too dang small! The handle is small enough that I can only two fingers on it, so uncomfortable for anything but open letters. The blade is too short and can't even process food properly, I can't even cut a mango in half without cut one side, rotate and cut the other.

Looks I'm going back to EDC pocket machetes.  :D

I couldn't care less what the sheeple think - I am sadly limited by UK law for the most part but seem to be carrying things I shouldn't due to having no memory these days  ::) :D

Right now, that's a Byrd Meadowlark which I really like.
