Best run times on a single AA battery?
on: June 06, 2009, 06:32:49 PM
In furtherance to this thread http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,11552.0.html I'm wondering what standard flashlight has the longest run time on a single AA ???

As far as I know it's the Infinety, but I'm hardly a Jamie, so I'm keen to find out from you guys and gals :)

I think you should have stuck with the LD10. 34 hours on 9 lumens is pretty good isn't it  ???

The Proton Pro really is a solid, practical light. I'm not a white wall hunter or lumen extremist.

That's pretty impressive :)

I'll have to look into one (of to find some links...) :)

Yeah it's impressive alright, but seeing as the minimum setting is all I typically use, and that's about the same power as the Infinity :) where the Infinity manages almost 100 hours, the LD10 only manages a 3rd of that :-\

So I'm basically sacrificing two 3rds of a battery for the extra performance I never use :-\

I just like the fact that I can (blind myself) use the high output settings on the Fenix when needed... it was fun whilst walking the dogs in the park - LD10 for m'lady, LD20 for me. We lit the field up :D

If you really don't ever need that kind of output then I guess the Proton looks good for you.

As a additional thought, how about getting a solar battery charger for your rechargables?

How's [26 days] on low (although not with a AA)? :D

Since we're here, anybody knows what's the best runtime on a single AAA battery LED light? (I could start a new thread but where's the fun in that?)

I have that one, hated it, buggy piece of crap, it's being repaired right now and will sell it as soon as it comes back.

Really? I had great luck with the H30-Q5 and was actually considering upgrading to this one when it goes for like less than an arm and a leg. What was the problem with yours? If you think of selling/trading it away, shoot me a pm, will ya?

Will do when it back to me. It may be my sample was defective, but half of the time when I press the button it flashes high for briefly, and just plain hard to get it into low because I have to hold button quite long or it'll just jump back to high.

Available tomorrow, should be at least. There is a tactical version coming that instead of cycle through all those modes you can program two levels for bezel tighten/loosen.

Yeah thinking about it when you consider it's here in the UK it's not really bad and best of all no fees to pay :salute:

That's pretty reasonable :)

I've got to say though, that I'm heavily leaning toward a second Infinity as I know that works for me :)

What price do you expect to pay for the ultra?   oh and one thing about the photon pro it activates on high only,so you have to ramp down to low.Which is opposite to how I like my lights I like them to remember what level I set it.

I've been considering a Proton pro for some time. I like the fact its switch is on the side.

I wonder if Def's got bored of his yet ;)
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.
