Has anyone tried non flame based heat sources, like an electric hob for example?  That could give a very clean paracord melt.

If it's not a loose end then I melt it with a hot knife blade. So, as you can see on the first two, after I trim the ends flush to the fob I heat an old SAK blade and use it to seal the cut cord.  It's just a way of not melting the areas you don't wan't to.  The far right one you can see that I used an open flame and melted the cord next to the bit I was trying to seal.

Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.

Tried it with a heat gun (man's hairdryer :P )  That worked.
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

I have a little Vic Alox thing that I use for sealing paracord. I heat it up on the gas hob then cut the paracord. Seals it nice and neat without making a mess.
I used to come here a lot.
