Leatherman's first Retail Store...
on: April 17, 2007, 07:55:26 PM
Got this is an email:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Greetings!
We at Leatherman have some exciting news to share…We have just opened our first retail store! The store is located at our Portland, Oregon headquarters, on the actual manufacturing floor and you'll be able to see tools being assembled as you shop.

When you visit you can see all the tools that Leatherman makes in one location. This includes our black oxide tools, original prototypes from Tim Leatherman's collection, knives, pruners, multi-tools and "weekly specials". You can also sign up to take a factory tour, get your tool engraved, or drop off your tool for warranty work.

We know many of you are out of town, so we look forward to possibly seeing you on your next visit to Portland as we're only five minutes from the airport. For those in town, stop by anytime from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday and take a look. For more details visit www.leatherman.com and click on the large Leatherman Store button on the home page.

Thank you so much for your loyalty to our tools and our company. You have helped us to keep our headquarters and manufacturing right here in Portland, Oregon; employing more than 350 people in the metro area. We look forward to meeting you in person at the new store. Take care and have a wonderful spring season!

Regards,
The Leatherman Tool Group Team"

I was just going to post that!  There's a real kick in the jewels for many Leatherman retailers...

Pehaps they could make custom combination tools???

I was thinking a photo-tour of Leatherman posted here in the forums would be a neat idea. But no go, I just called and checked, they don't allow cameras onto the factory floor.  :(

(Which, I suppose, is not really surprising.)

I'd still love to go someday.

As a professional investigator, I could tell you a hundred ways around that, but it's probably better to just let this one go!

Okay yeh, back on track;
I would absolutely love to see the Leatherman factory from the inside, but I'm.........locationally challenged.  :(  Darn.

Do we have any members from the Pacific Northwest?

I say Multitool.org Road Trip '07!  We can all pile into 665ae's Omni and go!  We'll split the gas, and with the number of tools on board I don't think we'll have to worry about mechanical problems!

Who's in?

I wonder if we might get to meet Tim the Toolman himself? I understand he can still be seen prowling around the factory on occasion.......
