Just thought I mention for my fellow yanks ...
Perusing Lowes a bit today, and Surefire is hawking their 6P and G2 flashlights at Lowes. Pretty expensive, if you ask me, and I'm happy with my Fenix PD30 which is smaller, more settings, came with a sheath, and a whole bunch more output when needed ... 220 lumens vs. 80.
Anyhow, they are also selling 2 Surefire CR123 batteries in a blister pack, for $4.97. Which in my area, anyway, is a graet deal, as I was paying $8-$10 for a pair of Duracells. This price is on par with Streamlight if you buy 10 at a time.
I suspect they are cutting margin on the batteries in an attempt to sell the flashlights next to them.
Check the "endcap" displays right in front of the checkout lanes; that's where they usually are. The "impulse buy" areas.

I'm a big CR123 fan these days. A few days ago I grabbed the "emergency" alkaline D-cell flashlight from the kitchen wall, and of course it was dead. Other than the initial expense, it's nice to have a battery that isn't losing it's gumph just sitting there. Lead acid seems to last a long time if they are constantly on charge. Ni-cad is a joke, they just get burned up without rigorous and complete charge-discharge. Li-ion rechargables are expensive and often in proprietary formats which are expensive.
I'm going to be shopping for 3-4 "emergency" flashlights, mounted on the walls in main rooms, plain sight, at gradeschool children's easy reach. CR123 power for all.
