Looks a tad underexposed, did you bounce the flash and what lens were you using?
1. Well, I exposed them best I could. I think some were a bit out of focus, esp. the 125 series of 4. It seemed the knives on the right were more focused than the ones on left. Keep in mind, though, I had to go from AF to manual mode in the dark. SO, that was a challenge.
2. I bounched the flash on the last 2 shots. I turned the SB600 flash, mounted on the camera, facing verticle to the camera body (i.e. shooting across the knife instead of at the knife) so as not to reflect and leave a bright reflection on the knife. Now, after playing around with it, I will shoot with the flash off and the flash in Commander mode, i.e. built in flash on the camera goes off, setting off via RC, the SB600 mounted by itself on a tripod or the included stand. I like Bill H.'s link, gave me some ideas.
3. Lens: Nikon AF 18mm-105mm zooom lens. This is what came with the camera. I might see about a Macro lens and a larger, oh, up to 300mm, lens later. The 18-105 pretty much covers what I need for now.
