Very likely to be the new, clear, one piece plastic magnifier you'll get these days. Even the older magnifier was a gray plastic frame with a glass lens. You'll see a lots of the pics on websites showing to older style but that is more than likely just because they haven't updated the image. Both the old and new magnifiers have their own advantages:Old style: x8 magnificationglass is less likely to scratchNew style:x5 magnificationwider, flatter lens gives better field of vision.IMO the newer style is better in real use terms but others would disagree.

I personally much prefer the older styled mag as it just feels more solid and looks better. The newer one to me looks flimsy and cheap. I also am quite happy with the magnification on the older one.
