Why no Alox tweezers?
on: June 26, 2009, 06:59:10 PM
Could someone once and for all explain to me why no Alox model carries the tweezers/toothpick combo? I'm having a hard time believing a depression in aluminum scales would have less structural integrity than in that Cellidor stuff. The only explanation I can come up with is that the cost per SAK would increase beyond what Vic could charge for them.

With a cellidor SAK you have an outside liner and then the scale sitting on top of that.  The T&T slide down into a gap between the two.  With the Alox you just have the scale and no separate liner and so there is nothing to sandwich the T&T.  Theoretically you could put a liner next to the scale and make a groove to fit the T&T but it would add to the thickness.

First and foremost though is the fact that the Alox was made of the military and they didn't require the T&T.

Also there is no place to put a stock T&T due to the pins and getting the contour right, if you made the groove and added a liner you put a pen in

I have a Chinese-made "Eddie Bauer" SAK clone like that.

Maybe it's Vics way of challenging us to whittle our own toothpick and tweezers?   :P
