Yeah, me too- kinda reminds me of the tools laid out on a mad scientist's operating table in an old sci fi movie!  It's alive!

Seriously, I found one on eBay for about $18 and was going to buy it until the guy quoted me over $20 shipping from the US!  For that kind of shipping money it better be delivered by a Victoria Secret model!

Hi, my name is Guillermo and this is my first post on this forum which by the way I think is great.

I read, don't remember where, that this kind of tool has been around for quite sometime, 100 years aprox, but I haven't found more information about it. I remember watching this tool on my father's toolbox maybe 20 years ago, it was weird and really did not pay attention, next time I visit him I'll try to see if he stiil has it.

I saw a different version of the harp tool on www.todocoleccion.net (Spain), it looks old.

That looks like a pretty neat tool there, at least from a collector point of view.  It's funny that so many folks think that these tools are all new, but as J-sews can attest to, they have been around since I think sometime in the 1800's in one form or another.  All that's happening now is that numerous companies are trying to re-invent them to take advantage of the current market for them.

Now if I could find a pre- 1930's version of the LM Crunch I'll be set!

Yes, the Spyderco Byrd Harp is just the latest version of an idea that's been around for a long time. The oldest one I've seen had an 1883 English patent date. Most of the old examples have a corkscrew, with anywhere from one to ten blades.
