New(to me anyway) Swisstool
on: June 30, 2009, 12:32:31 AM
Another member and I did some horsetrading and I ended up with a Swisstool. Now my Spirit has a big brother. This thing is SUH-WEEEEEET!!!!! Here's some pix. Sorry about the crappy quality. My camera is a POS.

I am with Benner on that statement. I find it easier to one hand the pliers over the Spirit model. Something about the shape of the handles makes it easier for me to do this with my big fingers. Both have fantastic quality.

Which one did you get? Regular/RS/X?

The SwissTool inspires confidence.  It may not have the looks of the Spirit but for hard work its what I choose  :tu:
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

The Swiss Tool was my standard for years for ALL MT's.  I traded off returned gave away MT's that didn't meet up to the ST.

Then the Spirit came out and it "retired" my ST.   Now I am actually thinking about getting the ST out of retirement.

I miss the the bigger size and heft. I think I will try it for a week or two. ;)

Very nice trade.  It looks like you have the 2005 pliers head.  They are somewhat elusive.  Congrats!

Thanks guys. I noticed the pliers. They're HUGE. As for which one I like better, the Spirit or the Swisstool, it depends. For EDC I still gotta go with the Spirit. The ST will be what I grab when I know I'll be doing work.

As for what model, I think it's just a standard ST. It's this one.

I forgot to add, I put it to work last night. I have a small, medium and a large dog. So when I want to give them a treat I saw 1 Greenie in 1/3-2/3(a brand of healthy dog treat that won't break) and give the 2 smaller dogs their respective pieces and the big dog a full piece. Here's the ST at work. I even choked back on the tool so y'all could see it better.  :D :D

oh no what are you doing with that swisstool!!  :ahhh

Glad to see you're getting some use out of it.

 :D

So far all I've done is whack the crap out of my knuckles with my new (to me) tool.

Very nice trade.  It looks like you have the 2005 pliers head.  They are somewhat elusive.  Congrats!

Isn't that what all the new ones are?

Choosing between the Swisstool and the Spirit is a tricky one. The Swisstool is chunkier and has two blades and the rulers vs a working file and scissors on the Spirit. The Swisstool is also heavier. The boxiness of the Swisstool gives it a precision engineering look where the Spirit is a bit more refined, even if it does have those odd bent (but highly ergonomic) handles.

Getting a Swisstool X would remove that file and scissors prob.  :tu:

Congrats on the Swisstool DTH  :salute: I'm carrying an X about at the moment on my belt. I've sold most of my other multis on now as the Swiss stuff suits me the bestest and the mostest.

My beater SwissTool assisted in the dismantling of my front door today.  Yes I had some proper tools with me to do it but still ended up needing to use the awl and pry thingy :)

Forgot about the X, though yours must be special. ;) I thought the X was scissors instead of wavy blade? The RS is scissors and bread knife replaces wavy blade and file?

Standard Swisstool - Plain edge blade, serrated blade and file. No scissors.
Swisstool X - Plain edge blade, file and scissors.  No serrated blade.
Swisstool RS - Plain edge blade, rescue type serrated blade and scissors.  No file.

Hope that helps.
I'm back!!
