Do Black Oxide SwissTool Drivers Slip Less?
on: April 22, 2007, 05:33:21 PM
Quick question:  I bunged up the Phillips driver on another Spirit yesterday.  I really need to figure out a coating that will make it bite better without slipping.  For those of you who have Black oxide SwissTools, do the drivers slip less that their shiny counterparts?

I cant really help you as I've only ever seen pictures of the black swisstools but I cant really see how it wouls help , maybe a small amout but i would have thought it would wear of the tip of the phillips very quickly , Def has a black oxide one , maybe he can help .
I remember seeing a black one on ebay once that was Australian Army issue , it had a serial number and the broad arrow , I wanted that one soooo much

Even though I do not consider the SwissTool screwdrivers to be slippery, you are very right in assuming that the black oxide finish results in more friction.

They do slip a tiny bit less but I've found my phillips teeth to strip more easily than the phillips driver on my normal saks

It helps if you take it out of the box first...

Never handled the Black Oxide version. For Phillips head I tend to use my Spirit with the ratchet and bits.
