I personally think that a tactical folder is a folder that can be used in defensive scenarios. I also think that need to have a big blade, colors like black-gray-silver-tan etc, pocket clip, and a good locking mechanism. So, a tac folder in my eyes is one that can be used for self defense.

If all I had was a SAK and circumstances demanded it, I'd use it for self defense 

Your telling me that you would stab someone with a SAK? I highly doubt that as the blade would probably close. A tactical knife is a knife that you would use in a defensive situation. Your not going to use a 2.5 inch SAK blade that is held in by spring pressure to save your life!

Read my post carefully    I'm talking about a situation where I only have a SAK, as in I don't have a TAC folder to hand    I can assure you if my life were threatened I would use whatever I had to hand, which in this instance would be my SAK. AND who said anything about the blade, I certainly didn't! I might corkscrew my assailant to death. In all seriousness I and I'm sure most would use whatever they had available.

Why   are you guys talking about useing the blades on a SAK for defense I would just hit the guy with it a few times style

LM123, I am surprised.  I mean, you are a cop, right?  Or were?  You of all people should know that ANYTHING can be used for self defense.  YES the blade could be used.  Not for stabbing, but for slashing, like a straight razor.  The back spring screwdrivers or reamers could be used to punch with.  The can opener or bottle opener can be used as a close quarters koppa stick.  Heck, the whole thing could be used as a fist load, if nothing else.  I used to teach self defense, and I taught the use of jyst about anything in a woman's purse or in a man's pocket for self defense.  As a cop, I'm sure you've seen countless cases where guys and gals used whatever was at hand to defend themselves, or attack others.

I understand that anything can be used for self perseverance but I was just stating that fact that a tactical knife is meant for the purpose of defending yourself. I have numerous cases using the most bizarre objects especially keys! As I said, I was just stating what I think a tac knife is. Of course a SAK can be used in a defensive situation. Would you rather have a SAK or a nice tactical knife like a nice cold steel knife? I understand what your saying, but I was saying that a tac knife is the "right tool for the job".
