Not sure if this counts of not:

But is says "multi-purpose tool" so I thought it might be interesting.

Really innovative stuff and nice to see something made in prison that isn't a weapon or drug paraphernalia.

A pal of mine who is a prison warden once showed me a case full of shanks and pipes etc which the inmates had made. I was impressed with the ingenuity of some of it, but I guess if you have time on your hands and a need for something, you find a way  :)

LOL. You would never guess what kind of things inmates in the prison I work in are building. Tattooing needles and stuff like that are quite common, "home-made-booze" too.

One inmate in the metal workshop built an Eiffel tower in miniature (about 90cm high) for he was bored. Pretty nice, it was confiscated and sold.

Interesting,

As the cups in prisons are plastic a kettle can be manufactured from a radio cord and two screws or nails, the screws inserted into the female ends of the cord, place this into your plastic cup filled with water and within minutes you have boiling water,

although the mains is 240v the circuit is protected in case you decide to build a 7KW oven :D it wont work it will just trip the power   :salute:

[edit] Oh and don't think of suicide if you end up in there either, the circuit is fully protected to prevent this RCBO'S and RCD'S :D just put the kettle and toaster on,put your feet up and relax  >:D

In an American prison all that metal would be enough metal to make a riot's worth of shanks, spears, bone crushers, etc.   :o

Yes, but in quite some western European prisons like the one I work at the prisoners are given waterboilers, so no need for DIY.
OK, extremly dangerous prisoners will NOT get them, but most do.

They keep hold of the good stuff they find for exhibits on prison courses etc. You don't see or hear about the failed crap!

I got to study  some excellent keys that were made by a chap doing a long stretch, and you had to admire the skill involved as they actually worked. Then again... he had all the time in the world.

Only after a long, good, close look at them was I told he used to hide them up his ar**!!  :ahhh

Iv'e seen a plastic fork made into a key that worked too.
Keys can be easily 'read' so be aware when you post pics of your keys on forums.

The slang term in American prison for that is called "Keistering", pronounced "Key-ster-ing".  Keister being slang for the buttocks.   :ahhh :ahhh
