I have no idea!

May have to try and find the write up and see if it was mentioned!

Haha, that's funny   Get lost in the fun at these meetups huh?  They sound like a good time

I think Lynn did a direct comparison between the modern LM can opener and the Vic can opener.

I'd like to see a comparison of multi tool can openers.  Maybe a can opener race.

That would be cool.  A can opener tournament :tu:

We did that at a UK meet up several years ago. Had a load of cans to open to set the boys lose with different tools to see which performed the best (that's what they thought anyway; we were actually just making them help with dinner) :D

Nice :tu:  So which ones performed the best?

I remember that, it was the meet David organized and the first time I attended,  :tu:

I didn't get to play with the can openers....I was either trying to set something alight or put something out at the time

The Star Trek door always sounded to me a bit like a shower door that needed some lubrication.

Haven't personally had much need for my pocket tools though I did recently rescue two damsels in distress :D I was waiting in line at the post office when a woman asked me if I had a pen. I told her I had a little one and pulled out my 91mm Vic and slid the pen out from the scale and handed it to her. She did an amazingly good job with it writing in the address on an envelope she held curved in her other hand :o She was grateful :tu: The previous day I was entering the service entrance of a hotel I was working at and saw a woman trying to cut a nylon rope by running it up and down the exposed metal edge of a heating duct ::) The scissors on my Style PS made short work of it and she thanked me :)

Oh she did?  Perhaps she will shed some light on this subject for me

Sure, here's the thread where it started (and pretty much ends)
http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,36802.0.html
Then it branched into a separate thread to test 15oz cans (with some linked, timed videos)
http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,37059.0.html
And THEN became a discussion on #10 cans here...
http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,37113.0.html

The TLDR short version... mostly not a lot of difference, times range from about 22 to 28 seconds on most can openers for 15oz cans. If you use big, #10 cans, either use a Vic (as opposed to a Wenger) or get a locking can opener.

And finally back on topic... I had one of those AWESOME days where you use a multitool to open packages of OTHER multitools! The blade on my Rambler did the work. Go Rambler!

That's why I got my Charge, with the hook-knife early on, to open the packages of the later purchases.

over the last couple days the Spirit X has seen a lot more use. the phillips was used to swap some hard drives, the flathead for installing network cards into a couple ancient laser printers, phillips was used today to open up some barcode scanners and a mini pc looking for serial numbers, and the scissors got put work cutting some barcode labels.

Used my Surge to install 50 cable ties to hold some lattice work on some winged agility jumps.  My dog club had a working bee today to maintain all our agility equipment.

Just to show I'm not a MT "toolist" I also used 15mm and 16mm ring spanners, round file, a hammer and my battery drill.  I use the tool that works, whether it is an MT or not (but I did have to drive 30 minutes to get some of the non-MT tools, screws and bolts, whereas the Surge was with me and ready to go right from the start).  Score for MTs  :tu:

I'm definitely a toolie since I caught the bug again last fall, and it's usually a skinned knuckle or two that forces me to use a specialized tool instead.  It's probably just a phase I'm going through...

Changed a light socket in a lamp the other day with my Victorinox Explorer. Alternated between the large flat head and phillips. Reminds me what a brilliant tool the inline phillips is on a SAK.

Yeah, I like having the capability of switching between the flathead and phillips without having to change bits or anything like that. :tu:

Assembled my newly bought drill stand using the OHT, managed to use the removable bit driver to tighten some hex screws. The depth of the driver is deep enough to sit nicely on a jaw of the plier but with some side play, gripped with the other jaw it gets very stable and substantial force can be applied to tighten the screws.  :tu:
