What Did You Use Your Multitool For Today?
Reply #5610 on: February 18, 2019, 10:20:54 PM
I used the Centerdrive Today to remove the intake wall plate from a Central Vac system in a huge house.
Then I grabbed a non-conductive fish tape and reamed the pipe in the wall for a few hours attempting to dislodge a blockage of some kind.
I closed the connections with the pliers to make the vac turn on with no hose attached to test the reaming?
I then took a Shop Vac to the thing and alternated between sucking with the shop vac and blowing with the central vac trying to move the blockage in either direction even a little bit!
After about 45 minutes of this I was able to grab and extract some kind of furry beast with the CD Pliers thus restoring the inlet to working!!!

I am not a Vac technician. :dunno:

Used the Supertool 300 and the squirt to help make wire bails for my opinels.

Recently got in some suspension clips and wanted to try them out on my opinels.  Used the awl to make a pilot hole for the drill.  Used both plier heads and cutters for forming the bails.

Wave for unscrewing the setup based upon a RaspberryPi, cutting the zip ties and assembling it all back together. Experimenting with an original NoIR RaspberryPi camera I just bought

Got to use the trusty Kick ASS’s saw blade to cut down the pesky overgrown branches that get in the way and scratch up our cars whenever we need to back out. Note the diameter of the branches. It did a great job, though I think I still prefer the cross cutting action of the Vic style saws.

A few minor victories today. Opened a package, replaced a watch battery, emancipated a Vic Classic from its packaging (it had been in there far too long), repaired a malfunctioning fauxton, tightened the knob on a saucepan lid, and cut open the underside of my armchair, to retrieve a lighter that had fallen down the side of the cushion, and dropped through a gap into the body of the chair.

Used the KF4 to cut leather from scrap, the awl to make the holes since the hole punch is hiding again. Spirit X's wide screwdriver helped to unscrew and put the replacement piece back on (after I located another). Had to soak the leather to get everything to cooperate.

My father's old key ring holder is on the right. The leather ripped the other day and I decided to make another. Simple project. My father carried his key in this fashion, and I decided to keep the idea going as it keeps the keys in the pocket more.

Spirit X let me down today. Stupid key broke in the car door lock when I was out doing field rep work. Saw the key there between the keeper doors, and reach in with the pliers and they failed to grab the key. Then tried the awl, lost the key inside. Was able to actuate the lock using the bottle opener flat driver, but that was about it.

Key is inside the locking mechanism. Dipped some thin crafting wire in some silicone sealant in hopes I can push that in between the key and the key hole and pull it out with friction. Am guessing I will end up dismantling the door to get the lock, which is not an easy task. And it's supposed to snow tonight & tomorrow.

Would of been good to have a pair of small needle-nosed pliers right then. :(

Perhaps someone should invent/make an emergency key recovery device/tool that can fit inside a wallet.

Watched this video. Now I'll have to black the keeper doors open with something, but if this works, a coping saw blade with a multitool should work. Going to use the Crunch for vice grips though.

  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63tQH1DIqIw

Hacksaw blade too high to get in. Need a rasped thin wire probe.  :-\
