It is hard to tell because I can't see its proboscis, but I believe that is an Assassin Bug (so many different species). A very big one. They do have a nice bite, and have been known to prey on humans for meals. If that is what I think it is...whoever is holding it is very brave.

Saw a big bugger almost 2 weeks ago :)

You'll be pleased to know that I did the right thing :)













Called all the school girls over who were having there lunch break, and freaked them out with it :D Then placed in with all the wild flowers :)

thanks for the info Chako  :D, i still cant find any pics of it.. maybe i discovered a new type of assasin bug  :D here in mexico we call them "chinches"  but i had never seen a GIANT one lol, this one was very easy going and didnt bite me  >:D

I did a search on Chinches, and I found out that it means basically bed bugs. Assassin bugs are very similar to bed bugs. They do not however infest beds or bedrooms, but will take some blood from you when you are sleeping if an opportunity arises. Some people call them kissing bugs for their proclivity to biting around the mouth. I don’t think you would have to worry about yours doing that. I mean, wouldn’t you wake up if that walked onto your face!  :ahhh

Looking at that profile, I still think it is some species of assassin bugs. I cannot be 100% certain. I have never seen one like that before.

Good to hear  >:D  and that you put it somewhere unstompable :)  I reckon they'd make good pets for small boys, shame they're so rare.
