Just a curious question, but is the Ontario factory using a better spring steel for the springs?  Even on my new 1992 Demo, the blades are almost impossible to extend, and I know whoever signed off on the design decided to use poor spring steel, giving it much less longevity over a period of openings. :/

I don't have an Ontario, I have a 2006 Camillus, among the last they made before going under, and I'll have to say, the springs work fine on mine.  The tolerances are about the same as a SAK on mine, not too hard, not too soft.  Since Ontario took over Camillus' products, I believe, the newer ones should be the same.  And the longevity I believe of the springs has been improved as well.

Is there a reason the lanyard holder is so big? Just wondering.

The lanyard is large enough to slide down securely with the mess kit so it, the utensils, and whatever else could all be dunked into boiling water for sterilization.

Thanks, LH; I like the Demo, but not enough to carry it, frankly; I much more prefer the old Soldier or Pioneer. ^^;  Still, with that said, I can't help but say I like the look of the bottle opener/screwdriver more on the Demo, same with the can opener, even if it needs the small screwdriver back. :/  I guess I can't have both worlds, haha.

It was originally conceived to be a general issue item to replace the mess kit knife.
