Personalized gift for a buddy getting married
on: July 20, 2009, 04:06:35 AM
I've got a buddy getting married in three weeks and he carries a spirit on a daily basis, he used to carry a SAK (maybe a swisschamp, but not positive), I'm looking to get him some sort of personalized SAK for the wedding, so at least there is one manly gift to open amongst the bathroom towels and picture frames. I just thought I would get on here for any suggestions that anyone might have of a style knife and/or a good way to personalize one, suggestions of online retailer to do this would be welcome also!! Thanks in advance.

Our very own member Tinnie is currently engraving some scales for me for my Tinker.  Go to our Modding forum as I believe there are quite a few pics of what he has been doing lately.

I would also recommend some of the ALOX models from Victorinox. Several of them have engraving panels. The ALOX knives are superb and well loved on this site. Heck, I carried a Vic Farmer today. Here's some links you can check out. All of the knives linked to have an engraving panel and this website will engrave for you. I've dealt with them before and I was extremely satisfied.

Out of these four my preference would be either the Farmer or Pioneer but all of them are sweet knives.

They also all make excellent groomsmens gifts.

Oh, a word of warning with engraving Alox SAKs; unless you engrave the blade, the alox will begin chipping on the engraving panel when it has been engraved; I would imagine a laser engraving would get around the chipping fears, though.

With that said, nothing's wrong with a His' and Her's Cadets. ;)

Yeah I'd go with the Farmer too :) And like Sazabi said, maybe get the blade etched instead :)
Give in, buy several Farmer's!!!!!!

I'd go with Tinnies scales, you can get any message or image you want, on any SAK you want.
Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.

I can't believe I forgot this but the company I linked to before will also engrave MT's. I had a Spirit engraved last year. Here's their website. http://www.swissknifeshop.com/

I'd agree - an alox SAK would be an excellent gift.  Several companies with etch it for you, albeit at a cost.

Another thing you could consider is a Zippo lighter.  They're great gifts and can be engraved with a larger message.

Hope you find what you're looking for mate :tu:

I think a Stainless Steel Victorinox Director and Broker would be ideal as personalized and very classy gifts for a new groom. The Director could be engraved on the blade and the broker has an engraving panel on one side.
