Just updated my Brocock a little with a sound moderator (silencer).  I had resisted this for a while as I don't hunt and at the outdoor range the noise wasn't a problem.  Now at the winter indoor range the 'bark' was a little OTT. :-[

Looks like I am going all tactical lately. I just added another to my growing collection of BB repeaters.

This one is a Umarex Steel Force.

Much like the Umarex Steel Storm, this also shoots 6 round burst or single shot BBs.

Also like the Steel Storm, this one also uses 2 CO2 cartridges that fit into a removable clip.

To take the clip out, you have to press a side button to activate a partial release. This drops the magazine down enough to press the secondary release which is the white steel part seen in the following photo. After both are pressed, you can easily take off the cover to access the CO2 cartridges. There are 2 keys included that fit inside the magazine. This allows you to tighten or loosen the retaining screw for the cartridges.

The hopper holds around 300 BBs. To access the ammo hopper, you have to slide the front sight backwards.

There is also a 30 round magazine in the fore stock/barrel area. A barrel shaped charging lever is provided to open the 30 round magazine.

The Steel Force comes with flip up rear and front sights.

I attached a nice steel crossbow laser dot sight that I found locally for a steal.

Here we have the Umarex Steel Force at the top, and the Umarex Steel Storm on the bottom. Both follow the same principles of design. I do find that the stock on the Steel Force makes all the difference.

Here we have the Steel Force, Steel Storm, and the Umarex TAC which is a pistol conversion kit. The nice thing here, I can move the nSTAR Green laser sight, foregrip on the TAC, and the laser dot sights on all of them.

A little Leatherman information.

Cheers mate.  I did have a look at a few moderators but in the end the cheap Parker Hale was the one that seemed to fit the look of the Brocock the best.  Almost all the others looked like I'd stuck a coke can on the end of my rifle, or were more than I was willing to pay. :D

Best reason for a moderator is to give yourself a better chance to hear the pellet hitting the plate of the target.

When I bought my Ultra,I'd the choice of a long slim Wierauch ,or  a coke can. The Wierauch buggered the balance of the gun,so it was coke can all the way.

Oh,and it looks more sinister >:D

Lovely pieces gents.  :tu:  What do you think, should I sell the Garand I just got last night and buy an air rifle?   ;)  In all honesty, NJ law treats a BB gun and the M1 the same, need a Firearms ID card to legally own either.

A can of 500 AA Field pellets has gotta be cheaper then  box of 50 30-06

Very true.  There's just something about pulling the trigger on an old military rifle and hearing it speak that makes it worth it though.......

In fairness,if I could realistically have an M1.....

Couple of years ago I went to a big gun show up country, where a guy was selling M1 Carbines, converted to 22lr,for £100,or about the same price as a Chinese Airgun. Made me wish I had my ticket. Little 10/22s do do much for me,but an M1 Carbie?

It is, as long as you don't also mod it to shoot faster than 500fps (stock is well below that, 430ish).

Picked up this sometime ago, quite a bit bigger than I expected, about 12" tip to tail. The original crosman 357 is based on Colt python, and this newer version has a more "tactical" square-ish barrel.  Always loved the looks of magnum revolvers, but since self defense is illegal in Canada and everytime we take a real pistol out of the house we need to call the government for permission, it's pretty pointless to have one.

The seal kit is pretty cheap and easy to replace so I'm not worried (took it apart 2 hours after getting it, the sear and other parts needed some serious polishing).

But all my other air rifles are single shot so it's fun to have a 10 shot repeater.  :D

I paid a visit to Cromer ARC's new ground today which opened a fortnight ago. Great news that they have a new ground after losing the old one about nine months ago  :) Not as spacious as the old place but enough room for fifteen or so lanes through the trees. Great fun, I hadn't been target shooting since February  :o If anybody is ever in the Cromer area on a Sunday give me a shout.

Any input on the Benjamin Discovery? I've been looking at them and thinking about picking one up as a project rifle when I get back to the US. This will be my first foray into air guns since I was a kid but I have confidence in being able to tune it and swap parts since I am a gunsmith. It seems like a great rifle at the price, but since I know nothing about air rifles I figured it would be best to ask the experts first!

That's the CO2/HPA powered one? Personally wouldn't bother,too gimmicky.

If your looking at something precharged as opposed to a spring gun,see if you have the option of looking at BSA,Air Arms or Weihrauch. While they're rare in the UK the Korean Evenex have a good name. Gareth will be along soon to sing the praises of Brocock >:D
