Too many reliability problems with the current Webleys. The Chinese made XS19 is a better gun in every way  :o

:o :o :( :(That's sad to hear. The quality on my old Birmingham built Webleys is excellent.

As far as rifles are concerned I've got a HW77 in .177, that I bought when I was about 16, and two Webleys from before production went overseas, a .177 Omega and a .22 Eclipse. Also a .177 Webley Nemesis pistol.
How do you rate the HW77 mate? :)

It's excellent. Like MB says, it's heavy compared with most other guns. But the extra mass makes it harder to move off target so it's steadier on aim and it recoils less. If you didn't want open sights you could also consider the HW97 it's similar to a '77 but has a silencer instead of opens and a stock designed for use with a scope.

The TX200 from Air Arms is similar to the '77 and highly rated by a lot of people (and British) but I've never used one.
Thanks mate :tu:

I really am sold on iron's though :-\

You will lose the open sights on the 80 and 95. But the 95 is extremely good. Just need a scope to go with it.

Have they taken the opens off the '80 ,MB? :o
Still, Mike could get a second hand one, from what I hear they are built like tanks :D

On the subject of weight, I'm thinking a lighter one might be best, so it'll be easier to teach my son to shoot with once he's older :)

Slight typo there Craig, but the new '80K with mod is scope only. Still, plenty of the older '80K's about with opens.

I love air guns due to cheap ammo, plus i can shoot around my 4 acre property reasonably safely (projectile wont go far).
Below is my Umarex 850 Airmagnum which is powered by CO2, .22 cal 8 shot bolt action.

Mods include removal of fore stock to accomodate 9OZ paint ball tank, heavier hammer spring and carbon fibre barrel sleeve(for a bull barrel look).
I had an Hw97k which was a beauty, excellent build quality but it weighed a ton and i got sick of cocking that stiff spring.
Recently traded for my first powder burner, a Browning BL 22 lever action.Chik Chik Boom!!!

Nice one DJB  :tu: The 850 Air Magnum is popular here in the UK too. I haven't seen one converted to the bulk bottle before. Do you know what the muzzle energy is?

Not me, too many restrictions on where one can be used. Besides you might be surprised at what a good .177 cal. precharged can do.

I really don't doubt there capabilities :)

More a case do you ever feel the need for extra range/punch that a rim or centrefire gives you? :)

Too many houses and walkers about here even in rural Norfolk make it a huge responsibility in pest control. A sub 12ftlb airgun is just so much safer.

I had several air rifles as a teenager, now many years ago. I just sold a Walther pistol that used the C02 capules, found it a pain in the a*** to keep buying/changing them. Still got a Weirauch HW 40 pneumatic pistol, awsomely accurate! I am thinking of buying a HW80, fantastic rifle. Hey Magic Bus, I am trying to get a Webley Tempest in .22, do you know of any available mate? The new Webleys are very poor quality, the new Typhoon pistol in particular.
It seemed like a good idea at the time.
