My new toy! I've had her for three weeks now,but tonight was only her second time on range. Gotta say,so far I'm very impressed! The basic package costs about £270,including a scope. For the money you get a two way adjustable trigger(length of first stage, and release weight),and long struck 30mm piston. Action is smooth.trigger isn't as good as a Weihrauch Rekord, but it really isn't bad! Still need to start working on the adjustments :)

Really sorry I didn't get a chance to shoot this one mate.  How's it going for you?

Ted's Overhold is a nice YT channel for Air Gun enthusiasts.

I need to get the Stroeger out for some paper target shooting.

I love that channel. That man is a great shot - and pretty funny, too

I'd posted this pic over in my shooting blog but not here it seems.  My latest Weihrauch a HW97k.  She's not the most stunning rifle to look at, but she's sodding accurate. 8)

I recently acquired this,

not a true air rifle I guess. Looking forward to having some fun with it though. I do need to dig out my actual air rifles next time I vist my parents.
Gamo 600s
BSA 22 of some sort

I'll take some piccies of mine this weekend and post them.

I have a daystate Mk3 FTR with lightstream scope on it.  I used to HFT shoot at a club near Lincoln (uk) but I haven't been since my back injury in 2012.

I've converted it to a plinking gun and took off the muzzle flip device so I could use a daystate air stream silencer on it and shoot into a target box in my garden without disturbing the neighbours. I have also added studs on the stock so I can use a bipod on it as well.

I have a few of the 10 and 20 shot rotary magazines for it so I can sit and plink for a while. I get 140 consistant shots out of one air fill and I think I have enough of the magazines for 100 pellets so it works out well.

The ergonomics of Daystates never quite suited me for some reason, but they're undeniably cracking rifles. :tu:  Really sorry to hear your back stopped your HFT shooting. :-\

Thank you  :tu:

Its still fun to plink. Those green indicator targets are great. And all those useless catalogues I get at work make for a nice sound deadening backstop to the target box.

I've been practicing taking photos with my new tablet so here's a few shots of my air rifles.

Air Arms TX200 HC with Nikko Stirling Mountmaster 3-9x40 scope
Air Arms S200 converted into 10m target rifle (won my first trophy & medal with this one).
Hammerli AR20 10m target rifle, made in Germany by Walther (I got this in January but haven't had a chance to use it yet due to illness).

Would these count towards an Air Rifle badge?

Well I spent some time at the range this morning and Gareth I'm changing that bloody scope his week!

Anyhoo, in no particular order. Unsing .22 AA field 5.52. All from 35m off the bench. Very slight breeze. 10 shots in each.

Thanks Gareth. My neck will disagree with you. To get my eye in the right place the stock is barely in my shoulder unless use the very bottom of it

Gotcha.  You're right though, if you can't find a comfortable way of addressing the scope then something needs to change.  Have you tried a rifle with a more adjustable stock?  Lots of after-market gear available for AA stocks; adjustable buttstock pad and adjustable cheek piece spring to mind.  Heck, I believe you can get a whole new stock for less then the price of a new scope.

Oh, and while I definitely prefer low mounts myself you might be happier with some tall ones.  Lots of folks get along with them very well.

Yeah, I've got a couple of options that Im going to try this week, take the scope off my TX which has a 56mm objective and obviously has taller mounts or bite the bullet and buy an MTC Optisan EVX 6-24x50 F1 (FFP). Now the second option isn't inexpensive by any stretch. I do like first focal plane scopes.

I'll go back to the range, try the other Hawke then decide.

As much as I know the closer the sight picture is to the bore the better it is, I fancy having a go at HFT so that would limit my messing with the stock options.

Standard HFT rules let you use quite a broad range of stocks mate.  2016 rules are:

EQUIPMENT

Most rifle & stock designs can be used for UKAHFT competition as long as they are within the following rules:

Forend depth is limited to a maximum of 150mm, this is measured from the centre of the barrel to the lowest part of the rifle forward of the pistol grip.
FT style butt hooks are not allowed, although the paddle style of butt pad is allowed.
The paddles of the buttpad must not exceed 2.25" in length
When standing or kneeling, no part of the rifle may be in contact with the ground.
When taking a prone shot the only part of the rifle which may be touching the ground is the bottom edge of the butt pad, no other device, stock or buttpad extension may rest on the ground

In that case I'll try butt pad spacers first  :tu:

But I still don't like that scope

I am soon off to the range with my newest acquisition...and I am a bit excited this time. When I went for my firearms licence, my original thought was to get an unlocked air rifle. Then I got sidetracked by powder firearms. Well I finally got myself one. This is a Crossman Nitro Venom Dusk in .22 caliber. This could throw a pellet upwards to 950 feet per second. A lot faster than the upper limit of 495 feet per second that a non firearms licensed user can legally obtain.

I can tell that the crappy scope will probably have to go. The place I bought it from offered to install the scope for free. I said yes. I just looked at in this morning, and can quickly tell that I will have to move the scope in or out so that I hope to get a clear view as there are no eye relief adjustments for this on the scope. All my other scopes offer this. I can see that I will need an upgrade...as the scope was more or less a freeby as this rifle does not feature any sights. It does however offer a top Picatiny rail...so I guess the options are almost limitless.

First is a try at the local range however.

I don't know the rifle, but I can seriously recommend the Hawke Sidewinder 30 for a scope. If you can get them put it on Sportsmatch mounts  :tu:

Thanks for the suggestion...looking into it right now online before I go to the range. I am prepared to absolutely hate this scope.  :D

EDIT: Ok, after a quick look, that is quite some scope...but the price is way out of my league for what I plan on doing with this rifle.  :o

The cheap sight may not be all that bad after all once I did the proper adjustments. I should have brought my bore sight along for the ride. As it was, it took me quite a few shots to get it in the neighbourhood. I must say, I read somewhere you need 32 pounds of force to break the barrel. I believe it! Good workout though. So although I can live with the cheap scope...I am having a hard time with the trigger. It is a two stage, but the pull is rough and gritty and un-intuitive, at least for me. Maybe this is something I can get used to in the future. I do know it caused my accuracy to suffer somewhat. At the end of my range visit, I was at least starting to group them in a 5 inch circle at 50 yards.

I finally got around to taking some photos of my setup (with poor lighting).

It's a Daystate Mk3 FTR, with lightstream scope (with Butler Creek flip up covers), Daystate carbon fibre airstream suppressor, and 7 x  10 shot Daystate mags.

Here's the scope reticle. You have no idea how long it took me to take this photo successfully  :bnghd:

Close up of suppressor and the pellets I usually used for hft

Close up of Daystate mags

Also took a photo of my poor neglected pistol
