I'm an American with very limited experience with air rifles. I want something dependable, accurate, durable and powerful. 177 or 22 CAL is fine.

Something that will take small game for survival purposes as well as plinking...cause DAMMITT...ammo is $$$$!!

For dependable and well made my thoughts always turn towards Germany.  Weihrauch and RWS Diana being the big two.  You'll need a budget in mind and also have a read up on the pros and cons of spring powered rifles and pre-charged pneumatic (PCP) rifles.  Though from what you've said I suspect a good spring rifle is going to suit your needs better.  Sad to say that a good air rifle will easily cost as much if not more than a conventional rifle.  There's a lot of engineering that goes into these things.

Oh, and while I've already shown these in my HFT Blog I might as well post the pics here as well.

Air Arms S200 MK-II in .177

A bit of a thread revival.

I've been playing with this for the last few days. Air Arms Galahad in .177, regulated carbine with a walnut stock. Hawke Sidewinder 30 glass on top.

First target after zeroing. Standard 35m for me. I'm quite happy with it overall. I'm comfortable with bullpup rifles, I know a lot of people aren't. I'm still waiting on the correct scope mounts to arrive.

Looks like it's working to me. :tu:  I've not had a chance to look at a Galahad, let along shoot one.  Good looking rifle mate. 8)

Cheers Gareth, at 35m I'm holding over 0.75 mil, which is with the elevation wound all the way. The mounts are just not made well, the rings aren't concentric. Pretty poor

You'll have to have a play at the meet (you know you want to).

No, that's not going to work, is it.  :-\  How are you enjoying shooting .177?

It's been a long time! Well excluding 17HMR. Something I have noticed is the pellets seem a lot more consistent then .22. Almost no deformed in the tin and I'm using the same as I do with my .22.

I do like the flatter trajectory but I've yet to see how it will do as a bunny gun. On the other hand it is giving me the inclination to have a go at HFT.

When I get the proper mounts next week along with a rather nifty 3d printed single shot pellet tray I'll be able to see what I can really do with it. So far no downsides (well apart from a failed air hose  ).

My mate swears by Bisley Magnums for  .177 hunting.  At 10.65gr they're a nice balance between most .177 and .22 pellets.  They're also very well made and tend to shoot well out of most rifles.

Less that 24 hours later and this statement is no longer true. :D  Chap came to a competition we were hosting and had his nice new Galahad with him.  Not quite the same as your one Smashie as he had the full length rifle with synthetic stock, but I did get to put a couple of pellets though it and I have to say I liked it a lot.

A bit of nostalgia for me today. I've been hunting for one for a few years now and I couldn't find a good one.

Well I have now,  Original 6M target pistol. It's .177 spring powered and recoil less. Yes you read that correctly.

I'm guessing there's a counter weight released to balence the spring unloading as per the Feinwerkbaus?

Nearly, two opposing pistons, one piston powers the pellet and the other vents through the valves you can see just in front on the rear sight. Quite clever really

El Gamo/Gamo/ASI Paratrooper, 70's vintage, it was love at first sight, I wasn't even aware of its existance until a few days ago

There's a paratrooper hanging from the ceiling in my local RFD, well I think it's a paratrooper. I'll try to get a photo of it later.

Anyhoo (I'll tell you at the meet lol)

My new project was picked up yesterday. An Air Arms s410 in .177. The stock was the first victim and that is now sat with a pile of other stuff to be burnt.

List of things to do:
1. Change all the corroded parts due to it being filled with a stirrup pump.
2. Full service and new seals
3. Blue printing of action
4. Trigger job
5. Source new stock
6. New scope
7. Cosmetic bits if I feel like it.
8. New moderator (Huggett Belita)

Should keep me busy for a few weeks
