Because I was going into hospital I thought it best that I took in a tool/knife that was very sheeple friendly so I chose the Clutch due to it's small size, and I am glad I did.  It performed very well and although it's build is not 100%, it "worked" superbly and I managed to use every one of it's tools over the last 3 days.

I now have the urge to go and buy Gerber's other keychain sized tools to test them out as well.  :D
I'm back!!

Did it get to cut the cord?  (That should have been reserved for Leatherman!)

I was asked if I wanted to cut the cord with our first. I declined. Yuk.

I just can't get on with the little Gerbers, a Micra or a Squirt for me.

I used to come here a lot.

Was never really impressed with it until it was pretty much all I had.

I'd love a Squirt, but not for over bloody £40 that they sell for over here.

I think the most I ever paid for one was 24 quid including shipping.

I simply don't buy Leatherman tools at UK prices - you'd have to be mental!

I used to come here a lot.

I've been EDCing a Clutch for around 2 years now and love it.

For the $14 it cost, I've definitely had my money's worth out of it.

Fit and finish on mine was good, except that it came with a nail-breaking screwdriver-bottleopener implement.  Fixed that by opening/closing it a few hundred times and its been fine since.

If you think the Clutch is great, you really need to find an old Solstice.  Now that is a nice little tool!

I also like the Clutch/Shortcut better than I like the Squirt series from Leatherman.  I am also quite fond of the new ones, the Splice and Vise, which really do seem to be the Clutch and Shortcut in different clothes.  There are other differences than just looke really, but the construction feels virtually identical.

I had a Solstice and without sounding rude, thought it was utter garbage.  :D  Considering that it was a scissor based tool I thought it was pretty impressive of them to make that the hardest tool to use, as the thing wobbled all over the place and sprung out of your hand.  Wasn't particularly impressed with the drivers or how it attached to a keychain either.  That one has been sold now.

I love the Clutch, particularly the black/"graphite" model because it seems more solid than the red anodized model (from my experience anyways).  The Vise and Splice are a bit disappointing but the Clutch and Shortcut are great.

I have been thinking of the Vice or Splice, but the common thought does seem to be that they aren't as good as the Clutch and Shortcut.

I picked up a Clutch about 6 moths ago. To be honest the only reason I got it was because the price was cheap but it has performed surprisingly well. So far it's my favorite Gerber tool.
