Clipdraw McGraw
on: August 06, 2009, 04:03:00 PM
We now carry the Clipdraw, a very cool do it yourself pocket clip application for SwissTools, Spirits and any other Multi, knife or semi-auto handgun. These are cool. http://felinevet.sosakonline.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=1177&category_id=cdcc3145eb52ad203acfcf1a1dd22070&option=com_phpshop&Itemid=1

Considering just how many folks seem to want a clip on their Spirit this should go down a storm. :tu:

I wonder if you could trim the tape shorter so that it does not extend past the clip   It would look better but would you loose some sticking power

I wonder if it would work on the full size Swisstool. They're not as smooth.

Just did a SwissTool. Also wanted to see if it would still fit in sheath... yep, nicely.

Looks like you can cut 1/3 of the base plate and make a ramp at the bottom so it doesn't catch on anything.

I'm gonna try it on the Spirit and if it goes well, I'm gonna see if it'll work with a Juice.  :ahhh

The backplate is 3" long so all you need is a smooth surface of at least 3".

I wonder if it would still work with the sticky part limited/cut to just what's under the screws or so... :-\

It looks like 1/4 inch or so could be removed from the backplate, true?

The sticky strip sticks out past the end about 1/8" or so. I just trimmed it off to flush with the backplate. Width wise it is barely visible but could be trimmed with a razor blade to eliminate any overlap.

Also, just a point to note, the surface you paste the tape on doesn't have to be completely flat. As mentioned in the review, it will stick fine even if you run it over the rivet. I don't have a full Swisstool, but if the rivets are the same as the Spirit's, I'm sure you can do the same there.

And regarding the backplate, yes, it's longer than the clip itself. But I think that's so the tape gets more gripping surface. Those who have the means to cut the baseplate perhaps can try shortening it, though I think the total hold won't be as strong if you do.
