How rare are the dogbone shaped 58 mm alox?
on: August 09, 2009, 04:44:03 AM
I was just wondering how rare the dogbone shaped 58mm knives where? Namely the Alox Duchess Escort this is the 1 with just the file and penknife.  Reason I am asking is that I picked 1 up at the 127 yard sale AKA the World longest yard sale today :)

If Chako doesn't have one then it's rare :D

Wait for one o the SAKperts to come in and they'll provide you with a better answer :)

I got a 111mm Rucksack in not to bad shape and a Classic with a screw in the scissors, a black Executive, an original MiniChamp and a Rambler with pen so that makes it a Manager  I think that as all I should have looked more I guess :)

Good scores!  How much was the Vic Rucksack?

Did you see any "standard" plier based multis out there?

Dogbones are so rare that I don't have one... :(

Oh, and a red Sharpie matches the red ALOX pretty closely if you want to touch it up.

Congratulations, and good find!

I'm dismayed that Grant does not have one, as that means my search for one is likely to be a very long one.

Great Find!

I have one, singular and I was very lucky to get that as it came in a job lot.  That's an impressive haul you landed.  Its rare for me to find a SAK of any description at car boot sales over here.
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

 I took the sticker off so I want to say either 12 or 14 dollars on the Rucksack :) Only other MTs of note where some LM Micra's if I had of had more time and money I would have likely had an old style SwissChamp and a CyberTool but what I did get was good for me :tu:

Apparently very good since I got a dogbone SAK :o :) I probably won't see another in my lifetime unless it's on the web or under glass somewhere in a collection :)

Keep your eyes on eBay as they come up from time to time.  I don't search eBay too much as I can't afford the models I want with so many SOSAK members bidding on the same items.  I get most of my collectibles from other collectors, dealers that specialize in oddities (Felinevet and Freeport Knives for example) and the odd thing found in pawn shops, stores or other places.

I have been watching eBay for awhile now and the alox ones go for around $25 to $55 but are kind of hard to find.

The Stainless Steel ones seem to be harder to find and fetch more at around $75 to $100.

Well I found the old thread Pile Driver

Still have this SAK and it must be even more rare now as I hardly ever see one of these anywhere :o

Besides me and Pile Driver does anyone have one of these or a variation of it :tu:

I would of course love to see more pics of the SS one PD :dd:
