I found this fascinating, and maybe a good thing to show your kids to illustrate the effect of drug abuse.

It reminds me of an old joke about researchers and spiders....
The Dean of the university was touring the facilities one day and stopped in at the biology wing to see what they were working on. The head researcher was excited to show his boss what they'd been working on, so he quickly pulled a box off the shelf and emptied out an ordinary looking spider on the table.
"Watch this" he told the Dean. "SPIDER, CRAWL FORWARD!"
The spider crawled about ten inches forward then stopped. The Dean was amazed, but somewhat skeptical, so the researcher followed up with "SPIDER, TURN LEFT, WALK THREE INCHES, TURN RIGHT, WALK FOUR INCHES" and the spider did as it was told.
"That's amazing" said the Dean when he picked his jaw off the floor.
"That's nothing- watch this" says the researcher, who then gets a pair of tweezers off the desk and uses them to pull out the spider's legs. The Dean looks a little confused, then the researcher says "SPIDER, WALK FORWARD" and the spider doesn't move.
"You see," the researcher starts, "The spider goes deaf when you pull off it's legs..."

Oh that is a classic. I showed that to my grade 12 science class a few years ago. It fit into the discussion rather nicely and made a very memorable lesson.
A little Leatherman information.
