Here's is my addition to the Leatherman Collection Thread  :D

Only got three; but I think they work well as a team  :)

From the right moving clockwise; Skeletool CX, Squirt S4, Wave

I would like to add a Crunch to this group, but it is difficult to find one at a decent price this side of the Atlantic  ::). I really like the Charges but they seem to upgraded Waves so I may hold off. The Supertool 300 also looks like a heavy duty piece of kit but I do like outboard tools.
I also like the Camo and Black Oxide versions of multitools but again pricey, for me anyway  ::)

Great start :tu:

Just a thought, if it were me, my twopenneth ......

- If the cost of a tool seems too much - move on, pick another one for your next acquisition. I really wouldn't cough up at UK prices EVER, as generally you can find two serviceable tools for that kind of money by trawling the trade forums here, edcsource.com etc.

- Don't be frightened to buy used tools either. Most of these things we covet are built like tanks, and 5 minutes in the sink can make most used tools look like new anyway! By sticking to trading with people you trust (i.e. pretty much any of the regulars on here) and geeting photos of goods, you won't get burned too often.

- Wheel and deal. It's fun and can get you things you want! Many of the guys that frequent the trade forums here will have a "trading stock" of tools that they got a good deal on, that you can subsequently trade for something you want!

I've built up a fairly respectable sized collection by following the above rules, and have NEVER paid anything like UK RRP for anything! It's taken ages, but I couldn't have done it any other way (I've got kids. And cats. And a Rabbit), so landing tools I've been after for years is generally more rewarding than cash buying from Heinnies, and actually, a great deal of fun! I reckon I could sell the tools I have for 5 - 10 times what I paid for them, which simply adds to the satisfaction :)

Oh, whilst the Crunch is a great, great tool. I'd probably look for either a 4.5" LM next (Supertool, Core, Surge etc) , or a Juice. That'll give you one of each size!

I used to come here a lot.

Thanks Dave, your twopenneth is always welcome :D

So far I too have not paid UK RRP for my tools, UK bought but not at RRP  :ahhh

Think I'll go with your advice and focus on a Juice or possibly a 4.5" LM; what would you recommend?

I'll definitely start cruising the trade forums in search of a deal :D As far used tools go I wouldn't have an issue, if they've been owned by someone here they'll be in pretty good nick.

Could some kind member post some comparison pics here please?  :pok:

It is Leatherman :D

Wave against Surge

I get the impression it is a beast of a tool but would like to compare against the Wave. Also did I read correctly, it comes with a file and a saw which share the same holder and can be swapped out?

Thanks Dave, didn't think of looking there

It is as if your review was written for my query  :tu:

Do you one of each varieties of Surge then? The camo and BO versions do look amazing

Does the Black Oxide coating wear off or is it over many years of heavy use?

I can't remember for sure, but I'll bet she was out!

In fact, this was on return from the mini-meet last year. I had to unload one of the drawer units to carry it back upstairs so thought I'd get a big pic while I was at it.
