Teehee - that's a really old pic. I really do have a problem :D

I counted about 110 Leatherman tools a couple of weeks ago, but I'm pretty sure there are a few more around somewhere. I never did finish cataloging them, but if/when I do I'll post the list. But, don't hold your breath whilst waiting as I have no discipline whatsoever.

Anyway, I'm just a lightweight. It's about time we saw some pictures (or even just details) of J-Sews and JoeBW's collections. They make mine look miniscule! And Chako can't be far off catching up by now too.
I used to come here a lot.

I'm right in the same neighborhood as you Dave. :) Not many duplicates though, except for the various PST's.
But Joe.......Joe has every Leatherman variation. Every color. :drool: Every knife! :o Even EVERY FLASHLIGHT! :ahhh

Joe is my hero :angel: :D

Hi Guys,

Sorry to tell you that I don't have every variation (but I'm working on that).  I'm trying to learn how to take pictures like you guys and hope to get there soon.  Until then, keep bugging me.

Working on getting some of the more difficult ones.  I've succeded with the Leatherman wrissmurfch and the two-hand opening Wave.  Working on a few others.

Cheers - Joe

PS - If Def & Bob schedule another Maine get-together for next year, Hilary & I will be there with some of my Leatherman toys.  If they do, come and join us.  By the way, for our UK contingent, Hilary emograted here in 1958. :)

This is actually ironic as it was DaveK's photograph that got me into thinking more about Leatherman MTs. I assumed he had plenty of duplicates, but the more I looked into it, the larger the Leatherman model count got.

When this next batch comes in, I will have 67 MTs (including the two 300s if I ever get them anytime soon) in total. I have drawn the line at colour variations...but who knows when that might go down the tubes like most of my promises on this forum.  :think:

As for the photographs. When I first got into collecting MTs, I wished people would post comparison photographs of their stuff together and to know the model names. I go that little extra to help out beginners if any read these forums.

I have drawn the line at colour variations...

Yeah, I remember saying that once too :D

Eventually, you get to a point where there are no new models left to get, that's when the hunt for the oddities and rarities really starts. As others have said, it's actually very satisfying to finally get a tool you've been trying to track down for years....

I honestly don't know how many duplicates I've got now - maybe there's 80 or 90 unique models or variations? If / when I ever get around to cataloguing them, I'll have the answer!

....Until then, keep bugging me.

Oh, we will ;)

It's kind of inevitable really Chako.

Pretty soon (very soon at the rate you're going at), you'll have all of the LMs that are for sale, then it starts to get very tricky as all that's left are the rarities that people don't want to part with. I found that after I finally got one of each model, it's actually much mare satisfying when you land a "white whale". Because it's hard!

You slowly start to realise that there's a lot more out there than you realised, and you just can't order one up.

Some examples of the tools I will probably never get, but not for the want of looking:

- Purple Micra (missed a chance to get one for $6 once because I missed the end of an ebay auction  :cry:);
- 10th Anniversary Gold PST (was outbid by a richer forum member, who probably doesn't even know that I know ;));
- Camo scaled Aussie Juices (I wish I didn't t know the f**king things exist  :ahhh)...

.... and there's more, many more.

True enough. I am trying to not get many duplicates.

So far, I have resisted getting all the juices in their various colours. Likewise, I have stayed away from the infinite variety of PST models out there. I landed a 20th Anniversary Wave. That was a lucky and joyful day. I won't do the happy dance until I get it in my hand though.

On the prowl for the infamous 10th anniversary PST. I seriously doubt I will get one ever...but one can dream.

I just wished I had started my collection years ago. I could have been onboard back in 83. Then I would have something impressive. Making up for lost time though.  :salute:

Chako - I'm not going to say, for a simple reason. That forum member has never indicated that they own it, and from that I conclude that they wish it to be private.

That person will see this thread, and decide themselves whether they want to tell!
