knife laws in other countries?

reading through old threads on this site,is saw that canada have strict guidelines on their folding knives like ours in the uk, i was just wondering what its like in different parts of the world eg ,rest of europe, australia and the different states in the us? apologies if this has been done before.

The knife laws here aren't terribly strict, and in fact are just footnotes to the firearms laws.

In a nutshell, no automatic knives (switchblades, although assisted openers are permitted), no balisongs, and nothing concealed.

Although after the Great Medieval Chinese Ninja Invasion of Canada, they also banned push dagger, morning star, ninja star, nunchuck, brass knuckle, and spring loaded baton.

Some city has bylaw regard knives thou, I.e. Montreal has bylaw prohibit carrying of knives without valid reason (exclude SAK). Although I was TOLD by a cop that it's intended for gang members, and they don't bother average joe with it.

i just checked the thread i missed read, "uk edc law", and it was with regards to auto knives etc that are banned in canada. what do you edc?
at the moment i edc a swisstool spirit and a crkt lake laredo ii, i dnt feel comfortable carrying a locker any more ,so i think ill ave to wait for the spyderco bob terzuola slippit to hit our shores.

Everything except for cane-daggers or other "hidden" blades is legal here. So OTF, butterfly, daggers, swords, Autos, ... You name it, you can carry it.

, does that incude any length blade as well?
sounds like youre goverment are using their heads and realising that a knife is the most important tool you can carry, i bet with no restrictions you have a cracking collection?

here it all depends on the "why".
in a wood you can carry a machete. not in town.
in Florence, I can carry a sword, during reenactement -but only if I re-enact-, and maybe not a pair of ong scissors.
and so on
no springloaded, no hidden blades as caneswords -too bad- , nothing that have no other purpose than fight.

the same code involves weapons and "objects that can be weapons", so it has a "common sense", not a case list.

So it sounds like Italian and Canadian knife laws are very similar.

The Australian grubberment has decided, in its infinite stupidity, to try and double the penalties for carrying a knife.
They cant catch the criminals using knives to kill each otger, so they are going after tge easy meat, innocent, law abiding people wishing to carry mankind's most useful tool.
I guess its true.
