New Victorinox multitool!
on: August 23, 2009, 11:48:37 PM
Hi,I posted this in the knifeforums.com too:

It is a crude rendering of what I hope will be their next multitool!
Perhaps someone else is better at drawing than me...

Victorinox really should expand their plier based multitool line. The SwissTool/Spirit tools are excellent, but they need more of a variety.  :) :)

Any suggestions as to what exactly they could improve? (Without borrowing too heavily from existing models by competitors)

I think it's a fair point, just look at how many variations on the SAK they have.  Why not a slimmer version of the Spirit for example?  Or a smaller tool, perhaps the size of a Juice or Squirt?  Effectively what they have at the moment is roughly equivalent to a Blast and a Supertool/Core.  A couple of variations for sure but they're not exactly taking on the whole of the Leatherman line-up.

Just to be clear, I'm not bashing Vic, most of you know I'm a big fan.  That's the reason I'd love to see them do more.

A Victorinox equivalents of the Juice would be interesting but I suppose it might hit the sales of the knives they already produce.

I would like a Victorinox that is comparable in size and features to the LM Juice XE6!

They don't need to improve on anything, just expand their product line.  :)

I´d LOVE to see a Juice sized Vic tool with a clip. But to be honest I hope it will be steel handles, for I do not like the look of the double-SAK pliers

Actually I hope they will have metal (alox) handles. They are both better quality and make the tool thinner than plastic handles. The plastic will also attract scratches like a light attracts flies!

i don't know... i would like the wire cutters at the base of the pliers to be longer. the spirit just does'nt have enough surface area to handle RG6 cable or 14-2 wire very well. i could really go for a juice sized spirit minus the saw and chisel. Alox handles definately.... colors... you bet. make mine red please.  :sak:

Exactly. A $30-$35 Vic competitor to the LM Kick would sell like hotcakes.

Really?  Can't say I have ever used mine.  Awl sees a lot of use though.

Never used the chisel OR the awl. so I would not need them in a smaller tool.

Actually, I always thought solid red cellidor would make for a beautiful multi.

Tools aren't the same grade, of course.

id like to see both the SE , PE blade and scissors in one model, and a high end steel. so i only need to carry 1 edc, and maybe a bit of grip on the handle (like some of the kershaw knives). but apart from that i love my sprit. :)
