Old SOG ad...
on: September 19, 2006, 04:21:48 AM
I just got this one from my contact at SOG and wanted to share it.  I remember when they first rolled this one out, almost everyone I knew thought it was trick photography!

My question was, how many interns did they go through to get this shot?  I mean, someone had to hold the knife, right? :P

The story goes that this was the 17th shot, and you can see the buildup on the blade.

Anyways, I always liked this ad and wanted to share.

I always liked it.  When I was talking to Chris at SOG a few days ago I made sure to ask if he had a copy of it.  My first SOG was actually a Mini Pentagon, and it was the sharpest knife I have ever had out of the box.  I bought it because this ad intrigued me so much, and I only had enough cash for a smaller model.  I gotta say, if it weren't for this ad, it probably would have been alot longer before I even looked at SOGs in general, knife or tool.
And, thanks to EDCDepot, I just added two more SOGs to my collection, the CrossCut and CrossGrip!  More on them later too!

Yuppers... it's very real.  One of my old bosses insisted that it couldn't be until we started talking about it.  He soon realized that if flesh will cause a bullet to mushroom or flatten then a hardened steel wouldn't have a problem cutting through it.

Lead may be heavy but it is soft, and after being launched by a small explosion, it's usually pretty hot, making it even softer.

The flash intro for the SOG website has a short 3 or 4 frame movie of the bullet hitting the knife.

Neat!! I never saw that before. I guess I shouldn't be so hasty to click that "Skip Intro" button.
