Dropped my Cybertimer, questions.
on: August 27, 2009, 08:59:56 PM
Was removing some staples and dropped my Cybertimer (Cybertool 41 with Timekeeper scales) from about 4 feet onto a polished concrete floor.

The scale with the watch promptly popped off.  :(

When I went to put it back on, it was apparent that one of the clips was damaged and wouldn't clip onto the pin.

When I swapped the scales, I had used a dab of rubber cement to hold the scales on, but because of the damage, I reattached with JB Weld (2 part epoxy)--with a small dab in each clip well.

My first question is, do the scales generally pop off if a sizeable SAK (Swisschamp, Cybertool 41, etc) is dropped from that height or was this a bit unusual.

Are there better ways to attach the scales?

About how many times can the scales pop off like this and still be useable? (I doubt this will be the last drop, unfortunately... :()

I was sitting in my truck in a wal mart parking lot looking at my swiss champ.
I forgot it was still sitting in my lap when I got out.It went flying and landed
on the asphalt :o.Luckily it just had a few scatches.Scales did not pop off.

As they've been removed before they'll never be quite as strong as when factory new.  The epoxy sounds like a good answer though.

I've been pretty lucky so far . Just as a side note, I would believe that Eco scales are a bit stronger in that respect .
