I go through phases, but lately just my Wave, clipped all the way to the left of my left front pocket so it won't open.  I hate the feel of anything in my pockets, so it's more comfortable then carrying one of my slippies.  Plus, it does anything a knife can, plus a whole lot more, you know?  Right now, I am not seeing any benefit in my carrying a knife with my multitool.

Whatever happened to your minimalist philosophy?

Thought you were going to carry just a simple slipjoint like a Case Sodbuster Jr. which you said could handle just about all your needs, including survival.  Then you were experimenting with carrying just a Vic keychain SAK.

Carrying a LM Wave isn't very minimalist.  ;>

.

You are right RZ.  I can survive with just a Sodbuster.  However, what got me back to carrying the Wave was not a survival situation.  It was not a need, or necessity that wasn't met.  It wasn't even really my idea.  The Wave was a gift from the wife back in 2005, when we were still dating.  It meant a lot to me that she would give me something that handy, and in return, it turns out, it means a lot to her to see me carrying it.  She asked me the other day where it was, and I told her it was int he drawer.  With a subtle saddness to her she asked why I didn't carry it anymore, did I not like it?  I told her I love it, I just didn't need it everyday.  She told me "but I thought you wanted it just in case?"  She did save up to get it for me at a time when she was extremely low on funds.  So, I ended the experiment, put my slippie back in the drawer, sharpened the Wave to shaving sharp, and clipped it to my left front pocket.  She never told me to.  I just saw the disappointment in her eyes, and couldn't do that to her.  So, there ya have it.  Sometimes, you gotta do for the little lady, you know?  If these little things mean the world to her, why not give her the satisfaction?

However, the Vic Classic is still on my keychain, and I make a point of using it as often as I can.

  • I just don't know what went wrong.
That's kinda sweet. I'm going to go vomit now, and then bash you for the most disgustingly sweet sorry excuse for an excuse. :D
Got those frog legs.

Depends on what do you count as MT. I don't carry a plier MT everyday, but I do carry a Micra and a SAK always, so I guess I'll vote for carry both.

You really should just told her you are trying how just knife works and will go back to wave as soon as it ends.

Nah, I had to get that look out of her eyes, you know?  It's ok.  I mean, it's not like I am taking a backwards step in carrying the Wave over any other pocketknife, you know?  I'll live.  LOL.

No I mean that way she'd know you didn't carry it because of the experiment, not because you didn't like it anymore.

Sounds like the best of reasons to me.  Keeping the wife happy is WAY more important than some experiment in minimalism.  :>

It works great, I love it...that's why I never bought another folder!  There are waved Delicas and Enduras for Spyderco, and there are a lot of emerson knives with that feature, but they are pretty expensive.

I will be writing a review of an Emerson Commander soon so I won't say much apart from the fact that they are totally worth the cost.  :tu:
