Short Review on 3 Collector Wenger Models.
Let us look briefly at a few Wenger Swiss Army Knives that come in presentation boxes.
Wenger Patrouille Des Glaciers In 2000, Wenger commemorated this difficult and famous event by producing this knife. If you are interested in the history of the event, then please click on the following link to an article on Wikipedia.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patrouille_des_GlaciersThe presentation box is rather nice for something made out of cardboard. There is a slipcover which is shown here.
And an inner box that contains the knife.
The knife has this beautiful metal plaque inlaid into one of the scales. It depicts one of the buildings along the race route along with the year 2000.
The knife is a Wenger Trailblazer. It is almost like a Viking, except for a small secondary knife, one gets the nail file and cuticle cleaner. You can also see that the blade has the event etched onto it.
The reverse side has the event’s official logo silk screened onto the scale.
Wenger World Scout Knife 2007 This knife was produced to commemorate the centenary anniversary of the World Scout Movement. The logo represents a dove.
The presentation box is once again a two piece affair. You get an outer sleeve that is the usual Wenger Presentation box fair.
Inside, is the standard Wenger metal presentation box, the commemorative knife, and some paperwork.
A closer look at the Centenary World Scout logo.
The Wenger is an Evo model. I could not get any match on SAKWiki due to the inclusion of the back inline Phillips driver.
On the back of the knife, you get the World Scout logo.
Wenger Porsche Design Executive Knife Wenger partnered with Porsche to design a series of knifes that are produced by Wenger. They all share the common attribute of having Ruthenium alloy scales giving them their metallic gray titanium look.
I include this knife here because it comes with a very nice presentation case. The case is made from wood, leather, and fabric.
The presentation box opened.
The closed knife with its metallic scales. The handles have this very ergonomic shape to them. I found this knife to be more comfortable to hold then the Wenger Evo lineup.
This is the Executive model. The smallest in the series.
Conclusion We have taken a quick look at three of Wenger’s collector type knifes. Each comes in a presentation box. Each has something unique and different from Wenger’s general lineup to warrant a closer inspection. Each has their own interesting history. This is why I like them so much.
